Vehicle Detail

1979 Honda CBX 1000 unrestored with 3169 miles. Frame: CB1-2017287, Engine: CB1E-2017345 This CBX was last on the road in 1987. I stumbled across this bike inside a gentleman's home in which it had sat idle for a number of years. He had said he purchased it from the original owner who had also had the bike idle for a number of years when he found it. When he bought it he had drained the tank, removed the carburetors and had them rebuilt by the local Honda dealer...and never got around to installing them or doing anything else with the bike. When I purchased the bike I found: The front/rear brake calipers and front master cylinder seized. A slow leak in the front tire The fuel tank petcock leaking when I attempted to fill the tank for the first time. I've done the following since taking ownership:Overall wash of the machineInstalled the previously rebuilt carbsRebuilt the fuel tank petcock Installed a new battery Replaced the front tireRebuilt the front master cylinder and replaced a front brake lineCleaned the front/rear brake calipers With the new battery installed and fresh fuel in the tank the engine was running again for the 1st time since I believe 1987. I've now ridden the bike ~20 miles around my neighborhood and everything on the bike works as it should (brakes, clutch, transmission, lights, gauges, etc.). The engine is strong and runs well but would benefit from a tune-up (plugs, carb sync, etc.) to have it running at peak condition. The rear tire will need replaced as I believe it to be original from the date codes. The bike will include the OE owners manual and tool kit as can be seen in the photos. Unfortunatley, I believe the seat to be incorrect (from a 1981-82 model) and the OE crash bars are missing. At some point the OE rear shocks were also replaced with Koni units (from what I've read about the CBX a very common period upgrade). 2/3 plastic posts on one side cover are broken and well need repaired. I had the mirrors off in the photos but I do have the correct mirrors in excellent condition and they will be included. The exhaust is in good shape but does have some surface corrosion on the inside of the downpipes but NO rot anywhere. Two very short videos of me riding the bike in front of my house can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwxNWqFn-wtUbbw_-WbHELA/videos As can be seen in the photos the bike is not immaculate but is in very good original and unrestored condition. I have too many projects and have decided to let this one go. Feel free to contact me by email or phone 607-427-2181 for any additional information or photos. You are also more than welcome to come and inspect the bike in person. Thanks for looking.
