Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1969 RS SS 396 Camaro showing 64,267 miles which I believe to be correct. Car is badged as a Z28 because apparently the previous owner loved Z28s. There was even a Z28 ball cap in the back window when I got the car. The engine is also a 302ci replacement block according to the previous owner, however, I was not able to verify this because the block had apparently been decked and the letters are not fully visible on the engine ID pad. The engine runs and sounds strong. It should be noted that the car currently has open headers but I have the collectors and will include a nice set of flowmaster mufflers for the new owner. The original engine was either a 396/350hp or a 396/325hp version as indicated by the 7000rpm with 5500rpm redline tachometer and the dual fuel line. Other big block indicators on this car are it's original heater core cover, big block radiator and core support and the original deep groove big block pulley on the power steering pump. Additionally, there is an original from the factory X2 yellow crayon mark on the top left side of the metal frame behind the rear seat (see pic). This proves that this car is an X22 Big Block Camaro. There is not an X22 on the Trim Tag as the build date on this car is 2 weeks before X codes were added to the Trim Tag (see pic). X codes were put on the Trim Tags starting in the 2nd week of December and this car was built in the 4th week of November. The rear end is the original 12 Bolt multi leaf with axle code BS 1122G2 E. The transmission is a Borg Warner T10 which is not original to the car. Transmission shifts fine but it should be noted that sometimes you have to put it in a higher gear before starting out in first or car will not move forward and feels like it is up against a brake. The original color of the car is Rally Green and is apparent throughout. To verify that this car is an original RS, I removed a backup light in the original lower rear tail panel to find the factory stamped opening with original color underneath. The RS wiper motor is still there along with most of the headlight door vacuum lines and both actuator cans under the front fenders. Pics of most original equipment is included. The body is super straight, solid and rust free. All gaps and lines are excellent. All metal appears to be original GM. The cowl induction hood is GM but not original to car. There are minor road chips and scratches on the paint but it is still very presentable. There is a small dent on the left side of the front header panel and a ding on top of the front right fender which are easy fixes. All trim, chrome, glass and bumpers are in pristine condition. Undercarriage is solid as well with only typical surface. All floor pans and trunk pan are original and in excellent solid condition without holes or rot. The front subframe is a little banged up between the control arms but is only cosmetic. The original deluxe interior is in amazing condition, complete and shows very little wear. Some factory options included on this car were black deluxe weave bucket seats and deluxe door panels , guage package, X22 package, posi rear end, tilt wheel and power steering. The steering column is a little loose at the tilt point but it functions fine. All original seat belts are there and in excellent condition as well. Car has it's original power front disc brakes which were standard on all SS's. The original brake line block is also still in place. This Camaro runs and drives well but the brakes are a little soft and the transmission has that initial shift issue mentioned earlier. I have tried to be accurate and thorough in my description of this Camaro, however, there may be something I have forgotten or missed so please feel free to ask me any questions about the car and inspect it before you buy. In summary, this is a rare and highly optioned RS SS X22 Big Block Camaro that is in overall excellent and mostly original condition. I reserve the right to end this auction early as car will also be listed for sale locally. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility and expense. There is NO Warranty on this car and there will be NO returns allowed so please inspect the car before you buy. A $2000 deposit is due within 24 hours after auction end with balance due within 5 days of auction end unless other arrangements are agreed to by seller prior. My name is Donnie and I can be reached at 561-876-8038 for any further info. On Sep-12-14 at 14:46:17 PDT, seller added the following information: I removed a tail light today to find that the original color of the tail light panel was Black which further verifies this car to be a big block Camaro. Also, I was able to read the casting number on the engine which is 3970010. My research shows that as one of the casting numbers for a 302 chevy engine.
