Vehicle Detail
Sweet 1968 convertible. Used since 2005 as our reliable “second car” (only a couple thousand miles per year since my office is only 1.5 miles from home, and I use the motorcycle more than the car). Pleasant to drive. Gets lots of attention and compliments. About 40,000 miles on original, professionally rebuilt 327ci/350hp motor with the original 4-speed transmission. An Arizona car until 2003. (Has never been on a salty road as far as I know.) Passes Virginia state inspection each year (requires lights, horn, brakes, wipers, exhaust, etc. to work properly). Has both convertible tops—soft and hard. Has a/c, but freon leaks out within a day or two. Soft top and interior are passable but pretty “tired” (small tears in driver’s seat and convertible top, carpet and door panels are faded, quite a number of plastic pieces throughout interior are cracked somewhere, rubber seals around doors and tops are stiff and hard). Tires are 9 years old and getting pretty worn. The speedometer needle swings wildly back and forth, and the odometer quit working at 80,000 miles (=180,000). The tachometer does not work. The radio is not original and does not work. The pop-up panel that hides the windshield wipers is open full time. The white exterior paint is pretty tired and should be redone someday (originally a burgundy color). Priced low to let buyer make improvements.
