Triumph TR3A, 1960Three owners, 47,000 documented miles since new Quite a find, low mileage, very original car that has been babied, well serviced and is in great, ready-to-use condition.Excellent body, older paint (appears to have been repainted once, many years ago), not perfect but sufficiently clean for a low key show. Very well presented. Most of the interior appears to be new, same with the top, tonneau, and side curtains, most of the chrome is near perfect (new or original?), trim, rubber, dash, original gauges (all work properly), working original heater, looks great.Mechanically….recent valve job, perfect compression and oil pressure, zero smoke, runs smoothly with ample performance, excellent clutch and transmission, work recently done: rebuilt calipers, new rotors and drums, new shocks, rebuilt front and rear suspension, rebuilt steering, rebuilt SU carbs, wiring looks to be in good condition and everything works electrically. Even the lighter works.What is wonderful about these cars is their contemporary performance….great stopping power from their disc brakes (TR3s being the first mass produced car with discs….a decade before Porsche), ample power with 110 mph performance, classic cut down doors and dash covered with gauges……unlike some of its contemporaries, this car can keep ahead of most traffic.Floors and chassis rails are excellent, engine bay is clean (although not detailed), trunk is spotless, for daily use, really needs nothing. And yes, ‘drive anywhere.’It certainly seems to have lived a charmed life as a nice combination of ‘new’ and ‘original.’ Have tried to offer a fair presentation with photos underneath, inside, outside, etc. Last title documents original mileage. With its steering rebuilt, this TR3 has unusually good driving characteristics (loose steering a TR3’s weak point) and mechanically it doesn’t miss a beat.As for any 54 year old car, sold ‘as is’ and ‘where is’ but we have gone through this car quite thoroughly.
