I acquired this 1969 Toronado, aptly named a Gentleman’s Luxury Muscle Car, a few months ago from a long time friend of a family in Ohio who had it in dry storage for decades after the original Owner passed. Transported to our shop in Conroe, Texas, where I own a restoration shop specializing in pre-1975 classics, muscle cars and street rods. In business for over 30 years. www.conroecarsandclassics.com Our aim was to make the car roadworthy once more, and it has since passed the stringent Texas State Safety inspection and Texas registered with the DMV. Since taking the photos the car now has used but very nice factory chromed rims with 1969 center caps. ALL NUMBERS MATCHING 1969 OLDSMOBILE TORONADO with just over 47,000 miles showing on the odometer. It is in very good driver condition with a solid body, muscular looks and runs great as it drives like new. We completed the mechanical work with safety and drivability in mind. IF INTERESTED – PLEASE CONTINUE The storage caused the tires to dry rot, and the front vinyl bench seat had cracks in the seat back area. The engine turned over easy with a wrench. The A/C compressor was seized. Factory 455 375HP V8 with smooth shifting automatic 3 speed transmission. The body shows no signs of any damage or major rust, only expected minimal surface rust on the undercarriage. Original rim/tire/jack in trunk. Factory Deauville Gray Metallic paint with Black Vinyl Top. The paint may or may not be factory but it’s in remarkable shiny condition with a few tiny scratches, which were touched up years ago; however we decided to wash and wax but not to do anything else. The engine photo appears to show rust but it's the remnants of the factory engine gold paint. We recently upgraded the front bench seat areas with Black leather and vinyl surrounds. Original (rarely used) rear bench seat, undamaged door panels and parcel shelf with solid dash pad, which has no cracks/tears. All carpeting is good with rubber mats covering and carpet in the trunk. Cold air and heat work. The vacuum driven headlight doors work as do all other vacuum operated parts. The door headlight grilles are intact. The vacuum remote trunk power lock works. All lights: turn signals, brake, and reverse work. Wipers and after market Panasonic AM/FM/Cassette radio work. Gauges, power seat and windows work. Stainless trim in very good driver condition with no dings or dents, all emblems in good driver condition, chromed bumpers in good driver condition; all lenses in good to very good driver condition. The following is NEW and recently installed: A/C Compressor, Dryer, Expansion Valve, A/C lines, Radiator Fan Clutch, R32 refrigerant, flushed out condenser and evaporator, Left and Right Front Wheel Drive Shaft assemblies, Spark plugs, cap, rotor and leads, Pertronix ignition, air cleaner, fuel and oil filter with oil change, gas tank sending unit, quarts clock movement, wiper switch, drilled rotors and ceramic disc pads, rear shoes, rear drum cylinders with hardware, brake booster and master cylinder, vertical shocks on each corner with 2 horizontal rear stabilizing shocks, hoses, vacuum lines, belts, fuel filters, twin FlowMaster 50 series exhaust system. The huge stock radiator was professionally de-calked/de-rusted and refurbished. We rebuilt the original carburetor. The weatherstripping is good all around but new weatherstripping comes with the car. New left/right rear grille drain hose connections fitted in the trunk. Newer tires in very good shape. This car is a very solid and fast-fun driver. Although not “original” due to the upgrades, it is a Survivor as it drives like new; who knows someone may call it a time capsule? Observing the car’s overall condition and the way it drives with effortless acceleration ostensibly supports the odometer mileage shown, however, the foregoing description or representation is provided on a best efforts basis and for identification purposes of any known defects and subsequent repairs; and are not to be construed as a guarantee or warranty of any type. Since the State Inspection, I have driven the car with family, mostly at weekends and it drives like new, with onlookers wondering what it is as very few are seen on the road, or at car shows.
