Vehicle Detail
The item up for your consideration today is a 1971 SAAB 96 V4 Sedan. This is a well preserved survivor car with at least 95 % of it's original paint. The lower portion of the doors below the chrome strips appear to have been painted long ago. The rest of car has some areas where the paint is thin showing the factory primer. Let's call that "patina". All of the chrome and bright work is in very good condition as well. The car also has a very nice set of Soccer ball wheels on it that really make it a stand out. There is a center cap missing on the left rear wheel. The floorboards, rocker panels and trunk areas are clean and rust free with original paint intact. The interior of the car is clean and tidy with all original components as they should be. The headliner, dashboard, steering column, trim panels, seat upholstery and carpeting are all in very good and presentable condition. All of the glass is original to the car as well with SAAB factory markings in the corners. All dashboard components work with the exception of the rheostat which is bypassed (a common problem). The heater/defroster also works well. All of the lights work as well with the exception of back ups. The hi/lo beams, turn signal and four way flashers all work fine. The engine starts and runs very good. It just had a major tune up and a BRAND NEW Weber 34 ICH carb installed. The transmission shifts smoothly through all gears with no popping out of any gear. The clutch disengages and engages as it should with no chattering. The car drives down the road very well. It just had the front end aligned in June of this year. The brakes were also completely gone through recently and all components in the rear were replaced. The front brakes are in fine working order and stop the car in a straight line. The E- brake also holds the car as it should. The exhaust system is intact and properly hung in place. The car has four new tires on it with about 800 miles on them. There are two spares, one is the original bias ply from day one and the other is a modern radial of correct size mounted on the steel rim. There is an original tool kit and bag included. The original jack is missing but a modern and safer one is provided. The fuel tank is clean with no surface rust. The plywood panels show no warpage or stains and latches are intact. The engine compartment is also neat and clean. I left everything as I found it when I bought the car except for the tune up work. I am also including a genuine SAAB factory service manual, new Haynes SAAB 96 V4 manual, sales literature, a laminated magazine article, Vintage SAAB Club of North America news letters and an Ashcraft parts catalogue. The buyer is to arrange their own shipping. A $500.00 Paypal deposit is required within 24 hours of auction end. The balance is to be paid by certified bank check before vehicle is released. Non paying bidders will be reported to Ebay and given negative feedback. In closing, this is a very nice rust free original example of a SAAB 96 V4. It's not perfect, but it shows well at car shows and cruise nights. Please look at all the pictures and please bid with the intention to follow through with the sale. Last but not least, please Email me with any questions about the SAAB. I will assist your shipper in any way that I can. Thank you for taking the time to look at my auction.
