Vehicle Detail

A “retiree,” me, buys this really nice GTV-6. It is clear immediately that it has been well cared for. He really loves the car. It is after all his fifth Alfa; they run deep in his soul. But, he is a retiree and seniors’ bodies don’t always work. In this case, a hip replacement makes it tough to get in and out of the GTV-6. Oil changes and minor maintenance aren’t as easy as they once were. This Alfa is a younger man’s car. And it is time for it to move on to another Alfa enthusiast. Here’s what you’ll get. A 1985 GTV-6 with 39,000 miles. Yes, that’s right, only 39,000. It truly is one of the nicest GTV-6‘s you’ll ever see. Its paint is still shiny. Very shiny. Just polished and buffed it two months ago. There just isn’t any rust. Let me repeat that: no rust. No dents, either. No evidence of a single accident. Inside, it is quite near perfect. Seat leather has been restored, carpets show as new --mats too. A color-keyed Parisi steering wheel, plus the original Alfa wheel. The one shortcoming is a cracked dash, almost standard on GTV-6’s, but this one is only slight. Air conditioning is cold, as it should be. A new AC compressor was installed this month. All windows work, mirrors, too. Sunroof slides well and is dry. Radio is a Kenwood after-market unit installed by previous owner, with removable face, and works well. Motor runs strong, idles well and sounds terrific. The transmission is pure Alfa, that is, it is stiff and shifting is deliberate. It is smooth after warm-up. Synchromesh was replaced about a year ago. So, if you treat it right, it doesn’t grind -- either up the revs or down. Tires are in good condition, so are the brakes. In fact the brakes were just serviced this month. You are getting an unusually nice car here, one that gets driven only in summer months by me, the third owner. In fact, it was a New Mexico car originally, according to the previous owner. Then, it was a Cape Cod summer car. In my case, even though I live in Ohio, I go to Florida in the Fall through late Spring while the Alfa basques in the protection of my garage here. Since I’ve owned it, I have had the transmission work done, and AC work, brakes and bushings plus oil changes and minor repairs. It just hasn’t needed anything. One point I should make: it has maybe 4 or 5 tiny scratches. Hard to find. But they are there. And the plastic rear bumper cap is wavy a tad so you know it’s a GTV-6. I want and will accept only $13,000 for this gem. You are free to have it inspected by an Alfa technician; there are three specialty shops nearby, near Avon Lake, Ohio. (West of Cleveland.) Two of them know the car. Sold as is. I will help load it on a transporter if you wish; or you can just drive it home! You’ll love it.
