Vehicle Detail
It has come time for me to list our beloved Corvair for sale. A few of my friends and myself have had this Corvair for some years now (we purchased the car around 4 years ago from an older gentleman that won numerous shows with it, but parked it to focus on other projects). We have been steadily fixing up the Corvair along the way, but now everyone is either working or moving so it is about time to part with it. I will do my best to describe the car with thorough text as well as numerous pictures, but please don't hesitate to ask any questions about the car. I will be checking my eBay rather frequently. Thanks! Engine 5/10 The engine will need the most attention out of the entire car. We have successfully got it running and taken care of a lot of the major needs, but some work still remains and I would like to make that well known upfront. We just have no time to continue this project as everyone is now leaving the area and busy with work. Currently the right side carb floods which makes for rough running and poor driving. You will need to put in some work and probably get a few parts to make this a road going car! -Engine bay and engine were cleaned rigorously before any work started-The engine runs and makes decent power (we recently drove it around just a few weeks ago!)-Engine has been rebuilt with all new seals (everything from the heads up. No internal work done) -Oil cooler was cleaned during rebuilding-Fuel pump freshly rebuilt and functioning great.-Carburetors completely rebuilt with brand new kit. Rebuilt using Corvair specifications for Rochester Carbs.-Battery tray is solid (Most are rotted out)-Engine bay seals are intact! (This is very important because air cooled cars need to control airflow to function. When these seals go bad temperature regulation can become and issue)-Tranny cooling flaps are functioning! (these are very important. If these flaps did not work the transmission could burn up fairly quickly).-New oil pan seal included but not yet installed Exterior 7/10 -The exterior of this car is truly in great shape. This car has been garaged for most of it's life and certainly for the last 5 years or so. -There is really no rust on the car aside from a few surface spots and some light rusting of suspension components. But there is no perforation or rot!-The condition of the paint overall is fair. The passenger fender has bare spots with surface rust and the hood has been repainted at some point (it's red but not the best repaint job). If you are an anal person you may want to consider budgeting for a good repaint of the car, though I think it is more than acceptable as is.-Passenger has some bare body putty exposed in the lower corner (3"x3" section)-Chrome is in great condition, both bumpers, all trim pieces, and all door handles look great!-Rear lower engine vent trim is in immaculate condition which is very rare! (most are mangled badly or missing) Interior 9/10 -The interior of this car is really the strong suit. Our Corvair features the beautiful red interior, very reminiscent of the times. -There largest flaw with the interior would be the split in the driver bench seat (split is perfectly along the seam and is the easiest to repair without evidence of there ever being a split).-The condition and coloring of the vinyl; both seats and trim is awesome, there is very little discoloration in some of the red on the seat back and some frequent wear areas but nothing truly bad.-Carpet and floor mats are in great shape.-Dash is perfect and not a tear in sight!-Instrumentation and controls are in beautiful condition, this Corvair even has the chromed flip out tissue dispenser!-The coloring is worn on the top of the steering column-The headliner is as tight as day one, and is in absolutely great condition Trunk 9/10 -The trunk is almost perfect. There is no rust or rot in the trunk. The trunk was completely redone a few years ago with factory speckled paint and new drain seals.-Has the original glass windshield washer fluid bottle. (filled and in great condition, label almost perfect) This alone can be upwards of $200!-Master cylinder is a single, but doesn't leak. Brakes ? -Brakes are functioning decently (they did stop us on our maiden voyage a few weeks ago!)-We have not ever torn into the brakes though so I would recommend at least checking them out and flushing the fluid-Master cylinder is a single reservoir and functions completely fine, but many folks would advise replacing with a 64+? Dual reservoir master (if you plan on frequently driving the car)-Parking brake seems to work, though adjustment will likely be desired Electrical 6/10 -All electrical functions appear to be in working order, though the system is not without its gremlins.-Right side was less bright than the left, we replaced a tail-light socket, which helped but there is still a discernible difference.-The electrical system will need some attention, all systems work but there are hiccups like the dimmer right side, and the brake lights not working 100% of the time. We just do not have the resources to sort out electrical issues and since we need to sell it now we have not taken it to a shop. I have described the car to the best of my knowledge for you. If you have any questions just ask! We have a slew of random new parts that will be included with the purchase of the car as well as a spare wheel and hubcap, along with any old parts we had or removed/replaced. If you purchase our Corvair we will work with any shipping you have in mind (if there is a certain company you use, etc..) provided that you cover the cost! We can also deliver within an 8 hour drive! Thank you for checking out the Corvair!
