Vehicle Detail
Hello there, here we have our beautiful 1964 Mercedes 220s up for sale. This car is in excellent shape for its year and it shows. The mileage on the odometer shows just over 16,000 miles!, which is very low for a car of this age. I was told by the previous owner that this was the original mileage on the vehicle, I can not verify this because the mileage only has room for 5 digits, although by looking at the cleanliness of the engine and the original motor mounts are still on it in perfect shape it probably does only have 16,000 miles on it. This car drives down the road beautifully, and the transmission shifts smoothly. this vehicle has many new parts installed on it in the past few months and would make for a excellent restoration project or a good driver with some minor work. The new parts that have been replaced are, new front brake calipers ,hoses, and brake pads, new brake master cylinder, new brake lines from the master cylinder to the rear wheels, new rear brake hoses, all new fuel lines from the engine to the tank including return and sending lines, fuel tank was removed, cleaned, and reinstalled, new spark plugs, ignition wires, new distributor cap, ignition points, and condenser, and remanufactured generator (works great). The lower radiator hose was replaced by the previous owner and needs replacing, they replaced it with a hose of the wrong diameter and it leaks after the engine is warmed up. It will also need a new battery (someone took my battery I had in it while it was for sale locally). The exterior and interior is in beautiful shape for a car of this age. Please look at all the pictures and feel free to ask any questions. Thank you and as always happy bidding. ********PLEASE READ******** A nonrefundable deposit of $500 is due within 24 hours of auction end. This vehicle is being sold as is due to the age, you are more than welcome to come out and look at the vehicle in person, you will not be disappointed. This vehicle is offered for sale locally and the auction may end early if it sells. On Aug-09-14 at 10:18:04 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello there, I am getting a lot of questions on this car and it's condition. Please feel free to come and inspect this car in person or keep asking questions either works for me. It is in much better shape than the other mercedes of this era that I went to look at upon purchasing it. I was told it has been garage kept it's whole life, and it has been the last three years I have owned it. I replaced the fuel lines not due to rust but because they were clogged with old gas. The previous owner let it sit for about ten years in his garage with gas in it. I removed the tank and cleaned the varnish from the tank and screen and replaced the lines. I replaced the carburetors with oe rebuilt ones since the original ones were in need of rebuilding. I replaced the generator with a oe rebuilt one. I replaced the brake lines and hoses because the hoses were collapsed from sitting with old brake fluid in them. The front calipers were frozen from sitting so I replaced them with oe rebuilt ones with new pads. This car is quite clean underneath, the brake lines unscrewed without any trouble and so did the rear wheel cylinder bleeders. The fuel tank bolts came out with hand tools with no trouble. This car is not rotted out like the other ones you see. It does have a few areas that need a little rust repair but that's it. Overall it's a very solid car. Thanks again for the interest in the car and as always happy bidding. Joshua
