You want a fun car to take to car shows this is it! 36,000 miles on the 289 V8 engine. This is an R1 car which means it came with an Avanti V8 engine, 4 speed, R1 Cam and high compression pistons. I am starting the auction at $7,500 and will tell you all the good stuff and bad stuff that I am aware of. The good: blinkers work, headlights work, wipers work, brake lights work,taillights work, roof goes back and forth and locks in place in 3 different stops as supposed to, radio works, emegency brake works, brakes work great (new master cylinder, brake pads and some of the brake lines), body is pretty much rust free and has a good paint job, engine runs well and does not leak oil, transmission shifts well and all forward and reverse work fine making driving it a blast, tires were new less than 500 miles ago, interior is in nice shape. The rear window cranks up and down fine and the tailgate folds up and down easily. What is wrong: The tailgate has some bubbles and I am sure has some bondo in it. I will include a rust free tailgate with purchase. The tach does not work, the horn does not work, the speedometer does not work, the air conditioning does not work, the power assist steering has been removed (so it steers fine but is manual), the headligner will be included but needs to be replaced, you can use the old one for a pattern, if you leave the car in the rain the roof will leak and I'd guess that was also true back in 1965, the glove box door is fine but the cardboard glovebox behind the door is missing. I do have a new one I just found that will be included. If you are looking for a car that will cost you under $15,000 and want eveyone to come up to you at the local car show and ask "what is it?" this is the car for you. I can take my 70 Superbird and 69 Dodge Daytona to a car show and park this between them and over the few hours I am at the show this car will steal the show! It is a realy cool car that I have enjoyed but just don't have time to drive. It can be driven anywhere the way it is or you could take it to the next level for under $5,000.00 I believe. That would be plenty to get the power steering back in order, new headligner installed, replace and repaint the tailgate, fix the tack and speedometer and maybe fix the air conditioning ( I say maybe as air conditioning on any car may cost you $200.00 or $2,000 to repair!). I have an extra tailgate as previously mentioned as well as several other parts. A few are two tailgate windows, a glove box, the old headligner and the braces for it. Some of the stuff do not know what it is but will include and you can decide if you need it or not. All the extra parts will fit in the back easily.
