This 1957 Morris Minor Convertible has been around the Rhinebeck, NY area for 25+++ years. It was restored and serviced locally. It wound up being owned by a local/resident/celebrity and we bought it in May of '02 as he moved to another area. We have driven it summers and to shows and serviced it as needed. Recent upgrades include exhaust system, seat webbing, tires, light switch, and any little thing which keeps it fun to own and drive. We do not know the order of improvements or timeframe as such but here is a list of what was done before we purchased it: Body and repaint--finished in gloss black-paint has held up well-still very shiny. Some paint bubbles in lower areas but seems to be in the paint only-no rust through. Would take very little to clean up or let it go and enjoy as it. Not getting any worse. Engine-replaced with a Nissan/Datsun A12--1237cc and 4sp-all syncro transmission. Looks just like the original but much more smooth and powerful, downshifts effortlessly, and has enough power to run on the highway with a feeling of confidence. The installation was very clean--not cobbed in any way, and has required no additional attention. If you installed an aluminium valve cover, only a very few lookers would figure it out. Austin Healy sprite front disc brakes --new non-squeal pads added recently. Seats were recovered at some point--holding up nicely. Top is still presentable--some pulled stitching and such. A good top guy could shape it up in an hour. We always drive with it down and have NEVER been caught in the rain. It would probably last 25 more years the way we deal with it. We will accept offers from foreign buyer BUT---ALL FOREIGN BUYERS MUST HAVE A LOCAL AGENT TO FACILLITATE PAYMENT AND SHIPPING. I will deliver the car for free up to a hundred miles. Whether that is to your door or to a shipping agent makes no difference to me. Once the car is paid for and all funds have cleared, pick up can be arranged by buyer and I will assist in loading any way I can. We want this to be a good experience for the new owner and it starts here. That being said, the shipper has to be cooperative and PROFESSIONAL as well. They are surely out there-choose well. Do not consider this vehicle unless you are willing to talk to people everywhere you go about their Morris Minor experiences. At a show, everyone has a tale and a heartwarming recollection. It is always of supreme interest to folks from the UK, France and Germany. They are always surprised to see it and impressed with its overall condition. It has received several "people's choice" firsts and though we are not representing it as "show ready to win" if FUN is your thing, this car has the factor without a huge investment.
