Vehicle Detail

1980/1979 Triumph Bonneville T140EX. Beautiful original condition. 5800 original miles. Two-owner bike, it's been pampered since sold new by the local Triumph dealer, Dewey's, in 1981. These bikes were supposed to be 1980 model year bikes but they didn't meet the 1980 emissions requirements so Triumph sent a bunch of these over to the US late in 1979 and got them titled as 1979 bikes. Everywhere else in the world they were 1980's. I've owned this bike about twelve years. When I purchased the bike I had it thoroughly gone through by a professional British bike mechanic. He's maintained it for me since then. Tires, brakes, suspension, etc., all remain in excellent condition. When I put this in storage about six years ago I drained the entire fuel system and drained the oil. I "fogged" the cylinders to keep the rings free. It was displayed in my heated garage since then until this Spring when I gave it a service and new battery. Started on the first kick and ran like a champ. I've ridden it about 200 miles this year and make sure it's in good order. Everything works as it should so no surprises. Beautiful and original with factory paint on the tank, frame, etc. Excellent condition factory chrome. Seat is a Leighton reproduction (best quality, British make) as the original owner replaced the stock seat with a 70's classic "King and Queen" seat that I tossed with minutes of getting the bike home. The Leighton seat is the proper style for the 1979 and later Bonnevilles. 5 Speed transmission with left foot shift like modern bikes so no anxiety over reversed controls. 750cc motor has plenty of power and with slightly raised gearing cruises comfortably in modern traffic, even on the freeway. Just a beautiful and original late 750 Bonneville. I love it but my interest has moved onto other bikes and projects.
