1980 Volkswagen diesel truck, if you are looking at this ad, you know that these are very rare and this was the first year they were built. Truck is very solid, set in our farm shop for 8 years and did not move. So therefore it is going to need a few things fixed from sitting. Son purchased truck last year from my brother, did enough work on it to get it running and drove some last summer. Truck is very hard starting after it sits over night. Seems to lose its prime, therefore the fuel pump probably needs rebuilt. Starter also needs rebuilt and needs some exhaust work. Body is very solid. Originally a California truck. Truck has never been driven in the winter. Runs great and drives great after you get it started. Transmission works fine. Gets between 48 - 52 mpg. If you want this to be a show truck, the interior will need some work too. Dash is cracked pretty bad from the warm California sun. Headliner is gone and driver seat is bad on the left side. Body only has one very small spot of surface rust on left fender in front of drivers door. Bid with confidence if you show up and truck was miss described or you are not satisfied with the purchase for any reason- you do not have to take the truck and you owe us nothing.
