Vehicle Detail

Yes -- the picture is of the van's "good side"...Project Vehicle - I know if you dump tens of thousands at anything it becomes Monterrey Gold! This is an easy one though. Very solid, tons of parts, needs to get together! Rare 8 door window van with long wheelbase. Very few dings around it. Title - NY registration which can be signed over - vehicle pre-dates issuances of title but can go through standard registration process with the signed over registration I will provide. Passenger side and front were stripped to bare metal and epoxy primered for protection during restoration. The other two sides and roof fell victim to time and, well, time. They still have the old light blue flaking paint (from a bad repaint in the 90's) Here's what we have: Dash - dash/instrument cluster were removed and entire dash from a 1948 Chrysler Windsor were welded into place - not finished, needs some additional finishing but all parts are there - every piece of dash chrome, gage cluster, some spares, all good driver condition and included. Main gague cluster looks amazing. Seats gone but comes with all seat brackets, 2 blue cloth seats from Chevy Astro, two bench seats in nice condition from a full size dodge van. Engine: Slant 6 gone!!! custom crossmember welded into place to hold Olds 455 and TH400 tranny - all in place - missing drive shaft and wiring. Block is 1973, heads are 1968 C Heads with the BIG valves - changed for unleaded. Offenahuser dual quad high rise intake, slight grinding where previous user tried to fit an HEI distributor - does not fit - brand new mallory distributor is in the part boxes included. New starter, two brand new carter 450 cfm carbs (anything else would drown it) RV cam for torque, new starter - no wiring, engine sits in the hole and factory shroud fits around it. New aluminum radiator - will fit existing mounts. Body: Body rediculously solid. Someone undercoated it a while back it it held up beautifully with crisp edges around 99 per cent of the bottom. There was some rust in the floor in front of front wheel but very minor and nearly fixed and some rust where the old gas filler was by the rear corner. I had cut out rust and welded steel back into place on driver rear corner. What you see is metal - no fiberglass filler used ANYWHERE. I welded 1/8" flat steel into place and only missing small section - flat section - where pedals go through. Prior to me acquireing this, custom rear bumper welded into place and tank moved. I have a 42 gallon aluminum fuel cell to go with van - not mounted yet. All Glass comes with van, there is a new windshield seal and weatherstripping for pop out windows. Hub caps from 1948 Chrysler Windsor. Front Bumper is from a 1968 Chrysler Newport and 2 bolt holes fit existing. Brake and lines were done 2 years ago but needs master cylinder from sitting. Van was stored inside warm garage until November, then 3 months outside, then into storage (yes, I lost my house, van is in storage in Farmingville Public Storage). Like I said, I know every car is soooo rare and has sooo much potential, but as far as the forward control van era, this one is a gem - can be put back together by amateur in a garage with some tools and time. Van is in Storage in Farmingville, NY. Please be able to come to Farmingville, NY to pick up vehicle before the end of the month. If you are not near Farmingville, NY, please have it all figured out prior to bidding. If I see your bid and look you up and you are no where near Farmingville, NY, I may contact you to see what your plan is -- have a plan or I will cancel your bid. Did I mention Farmingville, NY?? I know I could part this for a few bucks but really want to see a van guy take this thing in and make me jealous in a couple years. Please do not hesitate to request additional info or ask to come see it. My photos are limited and I don't want you to bid blindly. To answer an questions -- YES, it needs EVERYTHING done to it, but most of what you need is already sitting in the van!! I do NOT have good tires (the ones on it - 3 hold air, one goes flat in 6 weeks, front door wiskers and weatherstripping, ..paint...the rest should all be in there, but like I said, feel free to ask! Text 631-241-6609 and I'll do my best to answer questions. Please be local!
