I purchased the RT/PA from the University of Virginia campus police 11 years ago. The Bmw has been a very reliable bike for me without a mechanical failure ever.I received a file of service documents with the motorcycle that was proof that the department took extreme care of their machines. I rode many years on the bike without need of any major service,I just continued with using all synthetic lubes, change them more often than needed and kept the bike on good tires and replaced the brake pads when needed.The bike has so many factory options that in 11 years I only upgraded the lighting system to all PIAA lamps and I had Progressive front springs and a new mono shock installed. This RT/PA edition includesthe complete front and rear crash bar system that protects the full fairing and rear integrall luggage cases plus the system has the lower oil pan protection bars. Other options are electric adjustable windshield, ABS brake system, heated handgrips, 2 12v power outlets for heated winter gear, double access rear cargo box, tank storage compartment,and fairingstorage compartments all keyed alike with the ignition key for a total of more than 12 keyed alike locks on this bike.I took great care of this bike and it took great care of me for 11years of riding, I have a new boat that I seem to be on as much as possible so I am not riding the Bmw much at all any more. I had the very expensive major service done at a little over 40k that included the installation of a complete new clutch system, output shaft seal, drive shaft replacement and valve adjustment shim installation per spec. The battery is new, the ABS systems demands it, and I always run only fresh tires and the brake pads are like new. So with this bike the new owner can be assured that the serious service has be done and the only thing left is if you want perfect paint and such, have at it. I never painted the bike because when I went on long rides I would strap on some extra gear on the rear box and bags, I packed gear like I was never coming back, and with just the cargo space alone this bike can carry a lot of stuff!I just had the bike inspected as you see by the VA sticker and you can arrange to see me in Orange, Virginia to inspect the bike in person. I never dropped or dinged the bike, butit has scuffs typical for the vintage and the windshield coating is showing its age but is not cracked, I just buff it out every so often.Feel free to ask me any questions, and I will be happy to show the machine in the next 10 days.
