Starting in 2006 every US VW GTI comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. Our GTI comes with the VW/Audi brilliant Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) transmission, an automated 6-speed clutch, paddle-shifted manual. The DSG transmission can be driven in fully automatic mode, or shifted manually via paddles on the steering wheel or the shifter column/console. For the record the GTI (with the regular six-speed manual) will zip to 0-60-mph in 6.7 seconds.
