Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE This bike was originally sold by Devers Motors on September 3 1976 to David Ashbaucher of Norman Oklahoma. David used the bike sparingly and sold it in late 1995 to an avid BMW R100RS collector from San Marcos, Texas. The bike at the time of sale had 6,100 miles on it. Upon receipt of the bike, the 2nd owner mounted a new set of Michelin tires, rebuilt the carbs, petcocks, changed all the fluids, and completed a general tune-up. All work was done by Lone Star BMW in Austin Texas, The bike stayed in the 2nd owners collection as an investment piece for the next 16 plus years and was started regularly and driven to shows and other BMW events. In December of 2011, the 2nd owner posted the bike on the BMW Riders Website with the following description; “1975 R90S in silver smoke, 6,400 miles. Bought from the estate of the 1st owner with 6,100 miles. Period correct Continental tires, everything else from when it was sold new in Enid, Oklahoma. Outstanding example” I purchased the bike based on the above advert and after talking at length to the seller in December 2011 and when it arrived the odometer read 6,545. As the bike came off the transport truck, I was very pleased with its overall originality. The paint quality and engine cases were in exceptional condition and everything was original to the bike. I am a collector 1970’s European motorcycle but above all I am a rider. As such, I brought the bike into a local vintage BMW shop specializing in airheads to get put back in service as I was very anxious to ride this fine example. The following mechanical work was completed in the Spring of 2012: - carbs were completely disassembled and rebuilt using Dellorto kits from Bob’s BMW - a new BMW factory master cylinder was installed as the original one was ceased up and was not rebuildable - new Heidenau front and rear tires with new tubes were installed - new battery - all new cables - all fluids flushed and changed with new filters - complete tune-up - new hand grips were added - wheels were re-spoked with Buchanan stainless steel spokes The paint is 100% original throughout the bike / frame with the following note. There was a small chip on the bikini fairing (half the size of a penny), a nick on the top of the tank (size of a pencil eraser head) and a paint imperfection on the rear seat cowling. I purchased 2 half pints (grey and black) of paint from Holts BMW of Athens, Ohio and a local painter made the delicate repairs using an airbrush. There is no sign any repair has been made. Please note the pics. The original roundel emblems were not up to the same standard as the rest of the bike, so I replaced them with new enamel badges from Bench Mark Werks. The original tool kit, original owners manual, original cleaning rag, Rema tire repair kit , and owners notebook with receipts are included with the sale. I have a copy of both previous titles and the original Oklahoma title application from the 1st owner. Additionally all receipts for the work described are included. The bike currently has 7,307 original miles. Everything on the bike works including the clock. This bike has a high level of preservation and could be displayed in any quality museum such as the Barber Museum as it sits tomorrow. It is an original paint, low mileage, highly desirable piece of motorcycle history. I recently restored a 42,000 mile 1975 R90S in Daytona Orange and find myself riding that more often as I have been trying to keep the miles off this bike. The bike comes with a clear North Carolina title and is located in Asheville. Inspections are welcomed and serious buyers can call me at Eight two eight - 545 9958. On May-31-14 at 16:28:28 PDT, seller added the following information: From one of the photos, there appears to be about a one inch scratch on the lower section of the tank. This must be a shadow or other photographic defect as THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES, DENTS or other IMPERFECTION on the tank or any other part of the body work. Thx. On May-31-14 at 18:42:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Higher resolution photos are available.
