Vehicle Detail

I am selling this rare bike for the elderly parents of a dear friend who passed away unexpectedly. The bike lived in my garage for 10 years and then sat in an open shed for two years. It was in regular use before that until a carburetor issue which coincided with my friend moving out of state. As the pictures show it has the desirable large sport tank, solo seat and deep oil pan. What you can't see is the ultra- rare factory 12 volt four brush generator which is working perfectly. It also comes with an almost perfect standard tank, dual seat, piranha fairing, Denfeld rack, bar end signals, and extra transmission (which if I remember correctly pops out of third). The transmission in the bike is a "Vech" (benchmark works) rebuild put in shortly before its long sleep. I have drained and flushed the tank, cleaned the petcock, changed the oil, set the valves, points and timing, and cleaned the carbs. I also replaced the weak coil with an almost new repro one and the bike starts easily and pulls strong. It's noisy with a hole between the head pipe and crossover and is probably due for a slinger cleaning. No bad noises but smokes a little on one side. The frame says R69US but it 's had the correct for 1969 Earles fork with yellow reflectors on the headlight ears with a grease fitting on the swingarm for the 20 plus years I've known the bike. (It may have been a dealer switch which sometimes happened and in fact did happen to my 1968 R69S when new but the other direction with a telescopic fork put on it!) Anyway it's a wonderful bike with extras difficult or impossible to find. It deserves a good home and all the money from its sale will go to my very missed friend's family. I will answer any questions you may have as best that I can as a longtime BMW owner. Thank you for your interest. If you are the successful bidder you will need to make a nonrefundable $500.00 deposit within 24 hours and then make arrangements for balance payment to the family within seven days which should be cash, cashiers check or bank transfer. The bike can remain here for up to thirty days after payment is finished.
