Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Early 1970 Datsun 240Z VIN#5084 Series1 Survivor, CRACK FREE DASH with 106,000 miles HISTORY: This early 1970 240Z VIN#5084 was manufactured in JUNE 1970. This 240Z was purchased in Westbend, WI on 10/23/99 with 96,260 original miles (now it has 106,000). Flew there and drove it back to Florida. The 240Z was in good mechanical condition, although the body had a dent in nearly every panel. The driver’s side wheel arch had been replaced with a new panel. The exhaust and the floor pans were shot. The exhaust was replaced with 6-1 headers and the MSA (MotorSport Auto) Turbo Exhaust system that sounds very nice. The exhaust note is authoritative but not harsh. The floor pans and rear frame rails were replaced on both sides with sheet metal, rails, and undercoated. The body work, paint, windshield, headliner, and weather seals were redone in August of 2002. The car was finished with a set of 16x7 set of Panasport wheels. For the past 15 years the 240Z has been garage kept and driven for pleasure as well as Z Club events averaging about 650 SMILES per year! This 240Z is a real eye catcher! It may be the color, the wheels, the sound, the iconic 240Z shape and design, or all of that.. What ever it is, it's simply amazing how many people have something nice to say when they see this car, all the time, anywhere. INTERIOR: ORIGINAL SERIES 1 CRACK FREE DASH. The dash is in PERFECT condition!! Most 240Z enthusiasts know how RARE it is to have an un-cracked dash. It is difficult and expensive to find a 1970 dash with no cracks. All the fan and vent controls are working. Some gauges (oil/temp, clock, fuel, tach) are not working. Carpets were replaced, the plastic panels are in very good condition, fastened with the plastic push pins. Seats; driver side needs to be redone and the passenger is in good condition, Door panels vinyls are in good condition. The jack and related tools are complete and in excellent condition. The full size spare tire is stowed in the wheel well. The wheel well had slight surface rust which was removed and treated. BODY: Body work and painted 12 years ago it still looks new in the beautiful and bright PPG Concept "Ferrari 2001 Giallo (yellow) Modena" color. This was the same color that Ferrari used on the 2001 Modena 360, also a beautiful car. The BRE spoiler attached to the rear deck lid gives the car a nice aggressive appearance. There are a few small scrapes here and there and the front right fender has a quarter sized gouge. The lower valence has been bent to allow room for the 225/50-16 tires on the Panasport rims. The engine bay is in good condition, it is not spotless but it is not rusted. It has the tag with the motor ID and the VIN numbers is in excellent condition. Engine bay color is the original Datsun yellow paint with a few areas of silver POR15 (rust treatment). Frame rails and floor pans were repaired and are very solid. There are some weak spots in the original part of the rails that was not replaced. There was a small section of the front frame rail (above the anti-swaybar mount) that was reinforced to provide structural rigidity. Bright trim around all windows, and door handles, almost perfect. Bumpers are in good condition with some chrome fading on the rear and a small dent in the front. All Glass is in very good condition. The windshield is essentially new because is was replaced and has not had much use. WHEELS AND TIRES: 16 x 7 Inch Panasport wheels with Yokohama 225/50-16 tires give this 240z an amazing stance. The wheels are the REAL Panasports! They are excellent condition, no scratches curb rash or paint scuffs. The Panasports look great on this 240Z!! ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN: Original (numbers matching ) L24 240Z engine runs amazing! It always starts, even if it has been a while. At 106,000 miles and running like a champ this 240Z has lots of life in it. The hand choke cable was replaced in 2000, it operates smooth. The Hitachi SUs work very well. They have been setup the same on this vehicle for years and don't require any tinkering. The motor has the original E31 head. It has the original 4 speed transmission and the R180 rear. Upgraded 1 wire 100 Amp alternator system. Upgraded starter from an ‘83 ZX. The clutch has low miles on it however it can slip under heavy acceleration. SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: The suspension was refreshed by the previous owner prior to1999. The springs may be lower by 1 inch according to the previous owner. The original anti-sway bar is on the front. The car handles nice, it drives straight, does not pull and the tires wear evenly. Upgraded stainless steel braided brake lines are on the front. The brake petal is firm and brakes are responsive. The rear wheel cylinders have been replaced. EXHAUST: As stated above the full exhaust system was replaced front to back with the 6 into 1 header and the MSA turbo exhaust system. It was professionally mounted to gain the most amount of ground clearance. It has a nice authoritative tone that sounds great when you really step on it. When just cruising it is not over powering. Since the installation, the exhaust system has been flawless. IMPORTANT: I have tried to describe this vehicle as accurately and honestly as possible but please remember it is a used vehicle.
