Vehicle Detail
Cherry red 2-wheel drive Toyota Tercel, vintage 1985. To paraphrase my dentist, "She's in pretty good shape for the shape she's in." While the car has many miles, it has been maintained by my Brother, the world's best car mechanic. (I kid you not, people stay on the waiting list for years hoping to become a customer.) The oil has been changed every 3000 miles (or three months, whichever comes first) religiously. It does occasionally burn oil now, about a quart per 3000 miles when it is burning oil. Sometimes it burns no oil at all between oil changes. My Brother cleans the #1 spark plug every time he changes the oil (as well as checking everything from soup to nuts every time he changes the oil). The body has some rust on the bottom panels and the back hatch door, the air conditioner and radio no longer work. Tires are in good shape with plenty of tread. Always been garage-kept, and will last a lot longer if you have a garage. All the original pollution-control equipment is still installed and functioning as far as emissions testing is concerned. I've spent a fortune in maintenance over the years and have the records to back this claim up. I just checked my Quicken records, and it shows $15,769 in maintenance over the years I've owned this car. I bought it from a good friend who was also a maintenance freak, and it had a lot of miles on it even then. Except for the air conditioning and radio, I've fixed everything that needed attention on this car. So why am I selling? Don't really want to, to be honest. Have two Grandchildren in Asheville and hubby insisted on air bags. If I were wealthy and had more garage space, I would keep the car and restore it. It's a classic. Just a great little car that still like to run. Get 32 mpg in the city, 42 on the open highway. Can't believe the crappy mileage cars get today compared to this little buggy.
