Vehicle Detail
Nice Miata V8 conversion using sub frames and kit supplied by Monster Miata of California. This set up was designed by Martin Wilson and is a race proven design. I purchased the car three years ago from a builder in Colorado and have had no issues with it. The car met the Colorado emission requirements back in 2010. The car is equipped with a 1990 Ford Mustang 5.0 V8, Tremec 5-speed transmission and has a Thunderbird 7.5 inch IRS posi rear end. It has a big brake kit from Wilwood and has amazing stopping power. It is fitted with 949 racing wheel's 15x9 in nickel finish which are extremely light weight at 13.6 lbs. The tires are BF Goodrich 225/50/15 with less than 1000 miles on them. The interior has new black leather seating and a black leather Moto-Lita steering wheel with a custom made horn center. The car, when I purchased it had a carbon fiber hood which I didn't like so I replaced it with a factory aluminum one. It was a bit scuffed up and could stand to be repainted. All in all its a nice little car which is fun to drive and is a real sleeper. I have had several questions from viewers which I failed to address in the listing. It is not a show car, but is a nice reliable driver. It has been garaged since I have owned it. The car has no rust or accident repairs it was purchased new in San Diego and left California in 2009. The car has a clean Florida title with no issues. I don't know the history of the drive-line its previous owner was a Ford Mechanic. The fuel injected 5.0 engine runs well and starts quickly. The car is capable of decent gas mileage if you can keep your foot out of it. It has a large aluminum radiator with electric fans and the car runs cool and has never over heated. The transmission works smoothly and the syncos are good. The clutch works great with no slippage. The rear half shafts are like new. The car doesn't leak any fluids The car originally had AC but doesn't now, it could be added. Mc Culley Racing Motors sells the fitting and hoses for connecting Mazda AC to a Ford Compressor. They also do Miata V8 conversions. The car has power brakes and the Wilwood big brake kit and has incredible stopping power. The power steering works smoothly but makes a little noise on start up cold. It has been that way for three years. It is a Ford unit and functions nicely.. The dual exhaust system sounds great and has two catalytic converters plus the air pump, but it is a real mixed bag of stainless steel and galvanized steel with two flow master mufflers that could of been probably better routed at the rear. It looks good at the exit with two nice stainless steel tips. No rattles in the system. I have the V8 Conversion Manual written by Martin Wilson with nice detailed diagrams of how to build the car including wiring diagrams. I have the car insured by American Collector Insurance they were quite reasonable at about $200 a year, but I am 66 with a clean driving record so they cut me some slack. The car since I have owned it has always had Mobil 1 synthetic oil with Fram oil filters. It has always had ethanol free gas. The air filter is a K&N All the the gauges and electrical items work except the cruise control. The battery is an Optima red top. The radio is a Kenwood with CD and has an Ipod input. The convertible top is the original one that came with the car when new. No rips or leaks, the rear window is a little cloudy see photos. It zips out and I believe replacements are available. The seats have been recovered in real leather. The carpets are the originals and the dash is in great shape. It has a few custom items I made on my lathe out of 6061 billet aluminum. The horn center, shift knob, hand brake handle, and all four wheel caps. The car currently does not have an air bag installed so driving it this way will be your risk. I will include the original wheel and bag so if you want to put it back for your safety you can. Thanks for looking and have a great day!!!
