This is a 1938 Desoto S-5 Convertible, with a Rumble Seat. (Last Year for the Rumble Seat.) The Original interior and exterior color was BurgundyIts been kept in the familys barn for 50+ years Im Pretty sure this is 1 of 38 Made. In the pictures I have the production numbers for 1938. I was told that (and also read online) that there were only 38-1938 Desotos made with the Rumble Seat...Some Hardtop and some Convertible. Although I am not able to verify it any further than that The Body and frame are straight, looks like some minor body work has been done at the bottome of the doors. Most people who have seen it cant believe the body is in such great conditionThe leading bodywork in the trunk area, I assume that was from the factoryIncluded are shop manuals and a Master Parts List Book plus other misc., LiteratureI Have more pictures upon request (You can also call me if interested)The car has the flat six motor in it, but its not bolted to the frameThe Odometer reads 70000 exactaly (so its probably not accurate)Radiator-Looks to be in great conditionAir CleanerCowl VentilatorSet of 4 nice white wall tires (which arent on the car)as you can see the interior has pretty much been gutted, seat springs still intactnew caps and beauty ringsSet of new door handles ( I think for the interior)It seems that the drivetrain is complete however im not sure if the bell housing or driveshaft is on the carUnder Dash Heater Transmission gear box (there may be a part of the transmission missing)It also come with an additional dashboard But I cannot verify if it is exactaly from a 38'Basically just about everything has been disassembled, so aside from the pictures, its hard to tell what other parts it may need. I would have to assume there are many misc. parts that are missing Most of the parts are interchangable with the Pymouth and Dodge model 38'sThe Only Title we have for it is an extremely old one, but it says 4 door, so not sure if its any good ( I was told that back then they frequently made misprints so it would not be an issue.
