Vehicle Detail
Welcome. This is my personal 1972 Triumph TR-6 that after much discernment, I am selling. It is time after over a decade of ownership, that I say goodbye and help find it's next steward. To the best of my research, I am the 3rd owner. All that will be described is in good faith, my rating(s), my memory and hopes for a great car getting a great new owner. ENGINE: Fantastic ! Really....Last year before the emissions stupidity. Pertronics ignition, electric fan conversion, some bling with modest bright work, well supported with regular servicing, new radiator, silicone VC gasket, I mean the pictures help with this a great deal. I recirculated the canister port back to the carbs. There is no overdrive. However at 3-3200 RMPs, this cruizes with the best of them. While trailer queens search for a reason why theirs won't start, you just wave as you go by. TRANNY: Rebuildt clutch assembly when I bought it (paper work to verify), new slave cylider great hydrolics and no worries. I always respected that this car is now 42 years old. So, if you're into power clutching and other stupid stuff, I can't help you. This is a BRITISH classic and that includes the oil leaks. They're free. There are 2. One tranny seal and one rear seal. After a long sit you'll see the evidence. What does happen though is they disappear after a nice run. That tells you the seals expanded enough to do the job. I have new seals to install for the next owner. My maintence service on this issue has been to watch the tranny oil and fill from time to time. EXHAUST: Excellent shape! However, the manafold to exhaust gasget is tired. I have the new one for you to take care of. What I've done and has held for 2 seasons now, is ceramic repair paste and muffler tape. It's holding fine! But this will need to be done eventually. BRAKES: New pads front and rear as of 5 seasons ago. New brake fluid. No leaks here. From time to time you'll get the squeaking. I never used any copper grease on the front disc brakes and regret doing so. That's an afternoon for you to do... LUCAS WIRING: The dred of all British cars. Except maybe this one. Whenever I was in a neighborhood of wires, I cleaned and used di-electric grease for continuity, performance and protection. I hard wired the dash lights. It makes them a little brighter. Even the 4-ways work (you may have to tap the switch sometimes :) On the down side...the ground from the horn through the firewall is kaput. I have an aux. horn installed and this job will have to be done. I've ignored it because I don't want to do it. That's for you, if you want to... New smaller steering wheel, Mazda Miata seat conversion, new seat belts, 3rd Brake light and on and on...Photo's help here.I have all of the original parts except the seats. I donated them back to my car club. The Miata's are the way to go for comfort and safety. I say this very honestly and with confidence: You could get in this and drive it across the country. Keep an I eye on your fluids and you'll be fine. It's a great car! BODY & PAINT: The photos make this thing look wow wow! But it's 40 year old paint with a respray over some tail damage that was brazed for repair. (before my ownership) I took it it to the speacialists and had the frame inspected when I first got it. They bolstered the rear for me and has held a perfect alignment for over 10 years. There's a photo of a depression on the left lower door. I did that (idiot). The jack slipped when working on it. I almost threw-up when it happened. But, live and learn. To really take the car to the next level, you would want to do a re-spray. It's old laquer and has no clear coat. You have to get rain drops off of it quickly. The paint with all it's weaknesses, has had more than one expert tell me that it's a "respectable" presentation. There is merit to the phylosophy of keeping it original and not to mess with it. Bottom line, it's a 40 plus year old car with the paint to prove it. Do nothing and that's great! Re-spray and that's great too! Oh yes, NEW convertable top last season. Professional install. I will gladly communicate with you through email first. Non refundable deposit. Will assist any way I can. Thanks for your interest! On May-11-14 at 13:27:14 PDT, seller added the following information: A word about the mileage. There's 42 K on the odometer. I would love to say that's the original mileage. But how do you prove that?? I can't and there were no milage statement laws back then. It's certainly feasible..but I rather stand on the foot that the car has gone around one time. To it's theory, I'll let the car stand on it's own merit of use. You don't get this far by not taking care of it. The other item is toward the brakes. The original Power Assist Booster was sent out and rebuilt. The system is solid. Thanks guys...this will save me a couple of emails.
