Up for bid is an original 1971 Ford Thunderbird. This is the last car that Ford produced with suicide rear doors, and this one is a clean, rust-free survivor! It is a two-owner car that won several local car show awards. It has the 429 cubic-inch "ThunderJet" V8 that put out 360 horsepower when new. It is backed up by the C6/FMX automatic transmission. Just about every feature on the car works; brake lights, head lights, turn signals, and power accessories. The original AM radio works. The car is located in Camino, California, about an hour from Sacramento. If you're local, you are welcome to come and check the car out. This vintage Ford runs and drives, but it is an unrestored 43 year-old vehicle. It smokes on start-up, and one cylinder has low compression. (The other 7 cylinders have 170 pounds!) The transmission shifts smooth and doesn't slip. The AC compressor works, but doesn't blow cold. (Needs a freon charge.) The tires need to be replaced; lots of dry cracking. The vinyl top needs to be replaced. The paint needs attention in several areas; the primered area on the rear passenger door was for a small dent repair. There are several spots where the leather seats have started to crack, but overall this car is in remarkably good condition for its age. This classic car has a clean, clear California title. No smog is required here on a vehicle this old. It was last registered in 2011 and is currently on "non-op" with DMV, so there will be no penalty fees.
