Vehicle Detail
The provenance of this Porsche is exceptional. Frankly, it's why you may bid on it. Stevens Creek Porsche took delivery of this car with 6 miles on the odometer after the factory had custom-built it to the specifications of one of the family members of a founder of the Blue Angels. Every Porsche this family has ordered new has been Blue and Gold with the GT3-type Aero Kit installed. In some instances the Porsches they took delivery on in this color scheme / option package were the first of their kind to enter the country. This 997 Tip has every feature you could want: Chrono Package, Porsche Active Suspension Management, Bose Premium Sound. European Side Lights, Rear window Wiper. I think it's the most beautiful interior I have ever seen in a Porsche. My last 911 was a 996 with a plain jane interior, so I am able to appreciate the difference. I hope you are. Stevens Creek Porsche performed all the maintenance for the first owner. Took the car back in trade when he ordered the same exact package in 2013 and resold the car to me. Since then no one else has touched the car except Stevens Creek, which is quick to tell you that to their mind there IS a higher authority than Porsche: It's called Penske. 1,000 miles ago the oil was change, brake fluid flushed, new sunroof motor was installed (ouch!), four new tire pressure gauges (necessary evil), wheels rebalanced and the entire car inspected and polished. If you are a PCA member I would allow you to drive the car, but not hard. This car has never been on the track, never been on a tour (while I've owned it), never spent the night outside and comes with a matching blue terry cloth towel to cover the dash when it is parked outside during the day. Windows were tinted to protect the interior, not to look cool (but I think it looks cool). There are some small scratches above the right rear taillight (see pic) which I obsessed over before I bought the car, but nothing can be done to them and since I have owned it no one has ever pointed them out and I have forgotten they're there. But I provided a picture to make sure I didn't forget to inform you. The car came from the factory emblem-delete but the dealership put on the standard silver rear emblem when I bought the car. I switched to black to make sure the Ferrari's speeding buy in the fast lane have to down shift and get into the middle of the lane to get close enough to read the emblem to determine whether or not it is a GT3. If you don't want attention, don't buy this car. I got pulled over by four (4) Santa Barbara squad cars late one night pulling into a 7-Eleven--I will show you the picture to prove it--they were sure they were taking down a drug dealer. ("No, sir, I sell telephone systems.") I got pulled over on a freeway ON-RAMP for speeding. "But I'm on an on-ramp." "You were speeding." "No, I wasn't." "Yes, you were." "No, I was actually guilty of driving while driving with a whale tail--that's why you pulled me over." He started laughing and let me go. I got pulled over sitting in my car with the engine off outside of a Walgreen's on a quiet Sunday morning. "How we doing here?" the officer asked leaning in through the open passenger window. "Fine, thanks." "Got a V8 in this thing?" "Uh . . . no, sir . . . it's a 911." "Yeah, a V8?" "No . . . flat six." "I see." I don't think it's just the GT3 tail. I think it's the Aero-Kit up front, the dark blue which looks black at night, the smoked out windows and the red brake calipers. I'm guessing. I honestly leave this car home if I am going out to dinner and going to have a few beers. People stand around it. Police slow down to look. Again, I previously owned a Porsche. I spent $8,000 repainting a 996 that anyone else would have lived with. It was flawless. Yet it was like driving a Daihatsu compared to this. I personally never ever speed in this car. I was once driving in the slow lane at 60 MPH and some guy in a rice rocket drives buy with his middle finger raised. I think it is because ever other car with a rear spoiler has one that serves zero aerodynamic purpose. I don't know. Maybe I am convincing you NOT to buy this car. Maybe I should just keep it and continue to antagonize people. Evidently, I'm good at. New Lloyd floor mats inside. Dual radio tethers for your iPhone and some other model--not sure. Registration paid through November 2014. Not particularly motivated to sell the car. Neither am I in a hurry, but if the right buyer knows this is the car he or she has been waiting for, it should, by rights, move along to them. What is the Reserve Price? Go to Kelly Blue Book. You'll find it there. I wouldn't let it go for the reserve price, naturally, so it doesn't matter if you know it. The car is for sale locally, as well. And I'm also planning on keeping it. One of those kind of car sales. (You think my kids know that the car they hope to inherit is out to bid? Not a chance!) The front air dam is in worse condition that it looks. It needs to be replaced but only if your driveway is flat and AFTER you have practiced going over parking lot ramps slowly at an angle. This 911 is so low that I first scratched mine driving it off the lot--the sales guys laughed at me because they told me it would occur. This front air dam is completely impractical and you would destroy a new one if you installed one immediately. So better to practice on one beat up. I think the dealer charges around $600 for a new one, but I found an after market non-Porsche (that I need to re-find) for about $160. You may have your own opinions on what best to do. The car is not flawless. It's a Porsche so you have to either belong to the cellophane bra camp (I don't) or the stiff upper lip camp (staring at the horizon for dump trucks). This is one of those philosophical debates you have to have with yourself. I'm sure i have forgotten what is most important to you and I'm sure I don't know 1/10th as much as a 997 purist, so feel free to ask. I hate ads that end "Serious Inquiries Only." You do not have to be serious about anything to inquire. It's a beautiful car. I have had some great memories in it. (Extra points for finding the airplanes on the approach to SFO.) Thanks for checking it out!On Apr-01-14 at 17:31:08 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had multiple requests for video and a contact at Stevens Creek Porsche to verify the services performed there since new. On the first request, it is absolutely pouring rain in the San Francisco Bay Area right now and as this car is newly waxed and cleaned on the inside, I am not going to drive it in puddles on Thursday even if it let's up. (Forecast is for rain tomorrow, Wednesday). The forecast is clear for Friday. If so, I will pull it out and walk around the car, as requested and post a YouTube link. I drove it to another Porsche Dealership, Rector Porsche of Burlingame, California and paid to have them perform a PPI, as it is called, a Pre-Purchase Inspection, which includes a DME test, which, among other things will expose if a motor has been over-revved (redlined) or abused in any way. Here is a summation: --The Power Steering Fluid was over-filled. They siphoned it back down to proper levels. --There is an error message on the sound system owing to the SmartPhone adapter which they are of the opinion can be corrected via reprogramming. --The Steering wheel is off by 30 degrees as the car needs to be realigned. ($249) --The brakes and tires are all at 50% +/- --They set tire pressure at 36 psi front / 44 rear I have attached their report for your consideration. The DME test is that of the Digital Motor Electronics or ECU (Electronic Control Unit) which manages all aspects of engine control (ignition timing, fuel injection, oxygen sensor feedback, and numerous other functions). The DME can store faults that it detects and in some cases the DME will alert the owner of a serious fault by illuminating the Check Engine Light (CEL) on the dashboard. A DME report is generated by using the proper test equipment to read out any engine faults that have been stored in the DME or ECU memory. According to Rector Service Manager, Paul Medina, the following report showing “DME DFI” is testing for various areas of abuse. A “value” of 4 or 5 would be cause for concern of over-revving. This engine just received a ZERO for all ten tests shown. According to Paul, “this car has never been raced and never been driven hard at all.” He concluded, “the body and interior are near perfect—why are you selling it?” Why, indeed? I’m not sure. When I first posted an auction for this car, I inadvertently included the VIN for my old 996 and had to take down that auction. If you are going to run your own carfax or report on the VIN make sure you cut and paste it from the current auction—this one—not the old one. 2. The buyer will receive a Porsche cigarette lighter trickle-charger. I have the receipt in the book ($137.13). Your new batmobile will be ready for crime-fighting at the turn of a key. The battery is good. 3. If you are paying cash via wire transfer, I will provide information of the bank which holds the title. You can confirm with them that they will provide you with proof of purchase directly. If you are paying via cashier’s check, it’s a five-business day delay. 4. If you intend to play music through your smart phone, you need to get an extension cable for the charging tether that you currently use. For an iPhone, it has an iPhone4-type connector coming out of the back of the dash. So you also need the iPhone4-to-iPhone5 adapter. 5. There is a small nick on the window tint of the driver’s window. You may not notice it. I just did. If you’re taking off the film, it doesn’t matter. One window is like $100. If you want the power steering and window corrected at your cost, I could probably figure that out. 6. I had it detailed across from Rector Porsche which only hand-washes but has an old school car wash track which got some rubber marks on the driver’s rear rim. These should rub out. I just paid $175 to refinished that rim, so, worse, case, it may need some polishing. (This is where a son might come in handy. Borrow one.) 7. I was asked if I will be providing the sales agreement between Stevens Creek Porsche and me. Sure, why not? 8. I will get a video up soon.On Apr-05-14 at 11:32:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Video as requested. br> Answers to recent questions: 1. Yes, I would consider storing it at no charge for a short period of time (to be determined) if the plan were for you to fly out at a convenient time to drive back. My main issue is insurance. Once title changes hand and proof of insurance is provided, I would be OK with a delayed pick-up. 2. There very well may be a car similarly equipped in the PCA GGR region. I wouldn't know. Though I was a PCA member, I never took it to any events. 3. I cannot recommend a shipper--sorry. 4. Yes, I have both keys. Both work. A Porsche key fob (from Stevens Creek Porsche) is included and I guess an emergency key of some sort. I am providing a picture, because I am not exactly sure what it is.
