Vehicle Detail

1935 Plymouth Deluxe Rumble Seat Coupe. Excellent condition. Runs and drives great. Only 12,118 of these Rumble Seat models were produced in 1935 as opposed to the 4 Door Touring Sedan of which 82,068 were produced or the 2 Door Deluxe Business Coupe of which 29,190 were produced. This car was purchased in 1972 by Bob Mills in the State of Washington. (see photo) It was restored over a period of 12 years. I have a total of 15 photos showing the car under restoration. Also 1 photo of the car when it was originally purchased for 500 dollars in 1972. Along with the photos are a pile of receipts for work done starting around 1982 through 1987. One receipt from Inland Auto Upholstery in Spokane, Wa. is for 1,091 dollars for for the interior upholstery, rumble seat and top. Also included is and original dealers brochure and an original repair manual. I have owned this car for nearly three years and have driven it as far as 60 miles in one outing without any problems. It has never over heated and always starts right up. I recently bought a new 6 Volt battery and had the car it repainted. The old paint job had been painted over lacquer and had started to bubble after 30 or so years. It was taken down to bare metal and done correctly. It has the original 6 cylinder flathead motor and three speed transmission. The tires are in good shape but were probably purchased back in the 1980s. I would highly advise changing over to white wall radials. I did this with my 36 Ford and it made a world of difference in the ride. The upholstery and carpeting are in Excellent condition. The wood grain dash was beautifully restored. All the glass is good. Both the front and back windows roll down for great ventilation. All the chrome was redone at the time this car was being restored and is still in great shape. The exterior roof panel has been replaced and is in Excellent condition. I have include a photo of the underside. It was properly undercoated and painted at the time of restoration and is still very clean. The Speedometer is in working condition as are the other gauges. The gas gauge does reads low and may need to have the float replaced at some future date. The horn and head lights are not working at present. I'm sure this is not a major problem since this car has been completely rewired with an original type cloth wiring harness. The dash panel does light up nicely. I would be happy to send more photos to anyone who requests them. My phone number is 520-249-6995. My name is Ed Smith and I would be glad to answer any questions you might have about this car. I'm located in Bisbee,Az. ninety miles southeast of Tucson. If you would like to drive it you're more than welcome to come down and give it a spin. The reason that I'm letting it go is because I now own 3 other older cars and have run short of garage space.
