Vehicle Detail
here is my really nice 1983 hurst olds that runs like a hurst olds should, this car was owned by the local gm dealership owner and was part of his collection, he passed away and it was put on the lot for sometime in which I was able to aquire it some time later, the car used to be taken to car shows and was built to also race but he never got around to it, and also be able to be driven daily, the car has been garage kept except for its time on the lot, body has no rust and is perfectly straight, the paint shines beautifully but has a few minor scratches and spots from being on the lot for a year and was painted some time ago but still stands out very nicely, the original 180 horse motor & trans was pulled out and the new motor and original trans cost 10,000 dollars to be professionally built by a local speed shop and they did an awesome job, the motor is a chevy 388 stroker, roller cam, and full roller rockers, angle plug heads with performance porting and valves, billet crank and rods, 10.5 to 1 forged pistons, hp pump, comp cam push rods and timing components, balanced and blueprinted, and I am sure there is much more but I don't know everything that is in the motor just the dollar figure it cost from the family and the basic components after talking to the lead mechanic at the dealership, I myself pulled the valve cover on one side to confirm the full roller rockers and can see that it does have angle plug heads, its also a 400 block which is consistent with the 388 stroker engines, I was told it put out close to 500 horsepower, so I drove it and it surprised me how fast it really was, I own a 2012 dodge challenger with the 470 hp 392 hemi so I know what close to 500 hp feels like and this car is probably faster than my challenger, the tranny shifts better than any 200 r4 overdrive tranny I have ever driven very firm tire chirping shifts all the way into overdrive tranny is very well built, motor and trans have very low miles on them and car is very driveable and cruises very nicely for having that kind of power, lightning rod shifters work perfect, exhaust is full 2 1/2 inch with flowmaster mufflers large attractive chrome tips out the back headers and racing dumps with bolt on caps turned out behind the front tires, car handles very well, has upgraded shocks all the way around, positrac rear with 3.73 gears, air does work on car but needs to be charged ( I would have done it but it requires r-12), interior is very nice as you can see in pics, headliner is sagging a little in the very back, rims and tires on this car are very nice and give it a good stance, I can swap them with original hurst olds chrome rims and the original goodyear gt tires which are in great shape but they aren't as wide as these and in my opinion don't look as good, they are on another hurst olds I have, this hurst olds is the perfect car for someone who wants a hurst olds that runs like what a hurst olds should run like, it can be driven everyday. will hold its own with the new model muscle cars out there and probably beat a lot of them, sounds like a beast and backs it up, yet rides very comfortably, and stands out, I get compliments and turned heads everywhere I go, any questions call (931-581-0612) or message me my name is Alvin,,,,,this is a very beautiful car, a true original hurst olds built by a local gm dealership in the tradition of the hurst name. and would be an awesome addition to someone's collection......thanks for looking!
