Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a very nice 78' Honda CX500. This bike has been completely torn down and rebuilt from the ground up! The engine has all new seals throughout, new o-rings for the coolant system, new valves/reseated, and much much more. Just to be clear, the pistons are original and have about 12k on them. That being said, all components have been taken out, cleaned, measured for tolerance, and are well within limits! I build these bikes as a hobby and would not be selling this if my wife would let me keep "another bike" in the garage, haha. The bike has new: Electric fan conversion (from the old fan on the camshaft - much quieter and pulls more air), new battery in custom battery box located underneath the bike for a clean fit/look, titanium header wrap, skateboard truck for turn signals and tail light, new fork seals and boots, front brake master cylinder, grips, tires, take has been cleaned out and sealed for any rust, carbs rebuilt with new seals, custom LED dash board with relocated fuses, new headlight/bracket, new aluminum turn signals, Pod air filters, and original CX tank. I left the original decals because I thought it added a bit of vintage. I was never one for straight up Cafe Racer, but I decided to call this my "Japanese Guzzi". It has an aggressive look and feel, the mufflers have no baffles at the moment, but they are packed to quiet them down a bit. You may be asking yourself about the seat. I did not finish the seat yet because I had several ideas and honestly just got busy. The idea is that it would be low profile, but I let the pan who someone to do with it what they want!!! The bike starts and runs very well, but does need to have the carbs balanced and possibly very fine tuning with jetting, however, I believe the jetting is close and may not need to be altered and more. I currently do not have a balancer so I have just been puttering with it my shop. If you have any specific questions, let me know. CLEAN title in hand with current registration (the bike registered as a Non-operational right now. This was purely because I run other bikes and have been working on this and did not want to pay more than I had to for a bike I was not actively running). BEST PART:I have "2" CX500's for sale in this auction and the price will include both of them. The other is an 81' CX500 completely registered frame, forks, and engine. The block was used for spare parts and I would say it would take a bit to get that engine running because when I acquired the bike, the piston were seized. That being said, this bike only had ~4500 mi on it! Everything was practically brand new. The casings frame and forks are in good shape. the back of the frame rails were cut to do the same modification as the 78', but never got around to it and decided I wanted to do this with the 78' anyway. These items go as a pair and will be pick up only. No reserve on price. This is a great deal to take advantage of, especially if you want another frame/engine to pull parts from or just tinker and make another bike out of! Thanks for looking, let me know if any questions. Happy Bidding..... Just wanted to clarify, as I have had lots of questions on why my price is so low for this bike in its condition. I feel its a fair price and I'm not out to gouge someone else on the price. I would just like the bike to find a nice home and for someone to be able to ride it more than me! Other bikes like this go for much more and that is completely up to the designer/seller, but like I said, I feel its a fair price for the work put in and what you would be getting! - Thanks
