Vehicle Detail
Rare, One of a kind Natural Gas Vehicle - Sporty, Reliable and Very Economical - NO RESERVE Equipped with EPA Certified Altech-Eco Bi-fuel CNG Conversion. The Focus operates on either gasoline or CNG (compressed natural gas) with the simple push of a button. With the lower cost of CNG at the pump and 32-35 mpg on the highway, this little beauty has an incredibly low operating cost. The EPA Certified natural gas conversion system from Altech-Eco was installed by CleanFuel Conversions at the end of 2008. We bought the car from a Ford Dealership in Missouri with just over 10,000 miles on it. We paid $23,000 for the car, which was a really good deal at the time for one with so many options. The current Blue Book value on the Focus without the CNG conversion is around $6,000. We sold the Altech-Eco Focus conversion to customers for $10,000, but we did pay Altech-Eco more than $8,000 for the complete kit. CleanFuel Conversions has been in the alternative fuels conversion business for over 6 years. We have converted hundreds of vehicles to CNG, mostly taxis, shuttle buses and fleet vehicles. Our shop is located at 4900 N. I-35, in Austin, TX. This Focus was one of our company vehicles. We used it primarily as a demo vehicle and, because it is just so cheap to drive, to travel to trade shows or customer locations around the country. Now that the body style and engine have changed and Altech-Eco no longer offer this system, about the only thing we use the car for is an occasional road trip. We need to find a good home for this one so we can get demo vehicles with the new systems that we sell now. The system from Altech-Eco really is a clever design utilizing a machined adapter plate between the head and intake manifold instead of the drilling/taping and rubber fuel hoses found on most bi-fuel conversions. The fuel pressure regulator is mounted in the rear and only a low pressure fuel line runs past the passenger compartment to the engine. Although the design, packaging and certification are from Altech-Eco, the actual equipment originally came from Eco Fuel in Vancouver, Canada. Both companies are still major players in the alternative fuels industry with authorized service facilities throughout the country. Besides, all the components are names brand and readily available. The regulator is an ITT Conoflow, one of the most reliable fuel pressure regulators on the market. The fuel injectors are Bosch. Overall, the installation is very professional and includes a 18" x 36" 8.1 GGE Lincoln Type 4 lightweight composite fuel cylinder mounted in the truck that will get over 200 miles on CNG before having to switch back to gasoline. The carbon fiber tank was new when installed and is good for another 15 years. Sure the tank takes up some trunk space, but there is still a lot of room left behind the tank. With both fuels, the car has a range of almost 600 miles. The car runs great on either fuel. Loaded With All The Extras Heated Leather Seats Power Windows Sync Audiophile Sound System Bluetooth USB Ambient Lighting Fog Lights Cruise Control Fun To Drive Unlike most NGVs and almost all EPA certified coupes/sedans, this car is just plain fun to drive. The SES trim level includes an extra sway bar and a very sporty feeling suspension. The tires are Pirelli and they still have good tread. Plus, it is a 5 speed and there is almost no difference in performance on CNG. The heated leather bucket seats are firm, but comfortable. The hands-free stereo is wonderful. Eligible for Financial Incentives As an EPA Certified conversion, the Focus is eligible for most available tax credits and rebates. No state tax credit has been taken on this vehicle. Excellent Well-Maintained Condition I've driven the car to both coasts on CNG. In fact almost all the miles are highway miles on CNG. Besides brakes and tires, about the only repairs ever required was a catalytic converter replacement. The oil has been changed regularly and I have always used a full synthetic. About the only signs of wear are a few light scratches on the driver's door panel and a piece of the plastic on the console is broken. The piece can be purchased on ebay for about $40. If I were keeping the car, I'd probably replace it. There's really nothing else it needs. This has been a great car for me and I hate to lose it. I just simply have two many vehicles and need to sell a couple. Since the Focus conversion is no longer available, I need to keep other vehicles for demo purposes and will let this one go. Warranty I'm so confident that the new owner will completely satisfied with the condition and performance of this vehicle that we are including 1 year limited warranty. And best of all, CHEAP GAS Feel free to call 512-289-9799 with questions or to arrange to see or test drive the vehicle. The vehicle is currently in Austin, Texas. Please, only serious bidders. We are relisting the Focus because the high bidder on the last auction was one of those scams that wanted me to wire money to a shipper for him after sending me a fake paypal email. I have accepted the fact that the car will likely sell for a lot less that I think it is worth, but I can afford several rounds of this if the car is going to sell for below market value anyway. So, I will probably reject any bids from newly created ebay accounts with a "0" score. Good luck and let the bidding begin.
