I first bought this car 12 years ago and then sold it to a friend. Over the course of approx 8 years he spent a lot of money restoring the mechanicals to show condition. The engine WAS NOT REMOVED. It was partially disassembled in the vehicle, all parts cleaned, painted and/or replaced as necessary and re-installed. All brakes were replaced with stainless, new front coil springs, and the tank and sender unit was replaced as well as all the dash gauges(except the oil pressure gauge) It works perfectly, just the gauge face is cruddy compared to the others.The convertible top is there, however it should be powder coated and the weatherstrips and material replaced. I also have the original Black vynil covered hardtop. It's in decent shape with the original headliner. To be nice, should also have weatherstrips replaced and back glass polished. I repurchased the car around two years ago because I thought I'd use it. Wrong. I just don't have the time to enjoy it and have no use for the car show circuit. I hate to see it sit in my garage and go to hell! The paint is a 6 footer. I've owned a body shop for 28 years and would not paint the car. It's a great driver quality. It definitely has had some nose work done because it looks like the left side scoop has been patched in. Interior is very nice driver quality. In summary, this is a well sorted, numbers matching 427/390. I have the original manuals as well as the PROTECTO-PLATE. Has power windows and power antenna. It sounds absolutely awsome. Hate to drive it because of the attention. You can hear it coming from a mile away. This is NOT a hardship sale. I don't need the money or space. Not dying or getting divorced. The casting number on the transmission housing is 3884685. The current high bidder with zero feedback is legit. I have talked to him at length. The reserve is within 4 grand of being met. I just got the details on some of the work performed over the last 5 years or so with very little miles added since. Pertronix elec ignition set@ 5800 rpm, front coil springs, new gas tank(old one leaking), new tank straps and sender unit, COMPLETE NEW WIRING HARNESS, new brake calipers, rotors, hoses and lines, new fuel lines, timing chain, valve springs, rocker arms, new 427/425 type camshaft wilh hydraulic lifters, new gauges (less oil pressure) plug wires, rad hoses, new Holley carb stamped with all correct #'s. I have 2 boxes with a lot of the old parts that were replaced. The mechanic's recollection is that of a numbers matching car mainly suffering from years of storage and of a car that had never been "tinkered" with. The rear is 3:55. On Feb-25-14 at 17:53:58 PST, seller added the following information: FINAL FINAL UPDATE. Just dug up two more pieces of documentation. First is certificate of registration from Indiana Motor Vehicles, listing original owner's name and address. It states purchase date of 02/07/66. Registration is for 1971 tags and expires 05/31/72. Vehicle color is listed as "primer". Obviously whatever damage that occurred happened prior to this date and was in repair process ??? Second document is from Arizona Dept Motor Vehicles. Dated 12/11/02. Stated mileage is 46,321 and is listed as actual. I have either owned or have known the owner of this car since 2002 and can state that the very few miles added since then is correct. THIS CAR JUST SITS. NEEDS TO HAVE AN OWNER WHO WILL USE IT. I TRULY THINK THIS CAR WAS STORED FROM 1972 UNTIL I BOUGHT IT IN 2002.
