Q & A A few ebay bidders have asked questions about the Corvette so I thought to address those here: Q: Why is Carfax showing clean title and Autocheck is showing clear? A: When we purchased the car, we were presented with a clean title. The damage to the car was very light and the car was driveable when purchased with no airbag deployment and no check engine lights. The repairs that were done came in just under $800 and entailed repairing and painting the fender, bumper cover and light scratches on the driver door. The Carfax report may be in error but as we cannot guarantee title status, we’ve listed the car as salvage for this auction. Q: The Autocheck report provided by ebay shows a possible odometer rollback. Do you know anything about that? A: If you’ll notice, the Autocheck report shows the car having been serviced on 08/26/08 at 27,921 miles. The next service date was 04/07/09 at 2,912 miles and then serviced again on 07/28/10 at 36,559 miles. It appears that the mileage was just entered incorrectly at the April service date and should have been 29,120? That’s seems to be what happened. Additionally, our experience leads us to believe that the condition of the car reflects the 50,000 miles. This Corvette appears to have been well maintained with the exception of some minor issues addressed in this Q & A. Q: Are there any CEL’s? A: No. The check engine light is not on. There are no warning lights on. The car is ready to drive. Q: How bad is the paint? A: The fender, front bumper cover, and driver’s side door were painted. However, the paint is a shade lighter than the rest of the car. The hood does have some rock chips. This car was recently driven to California and we received many compliments on it. No one mentioned the paint or rock chips. This car does turn heads. Q: What kind of mpg does it get? A: This really depends on your driving but we were getting 30 mpg on the highway on our recent trip. Q: What happened to the stock exhaust? A: The previous owner installed what appears to be a Borla exhaust. At least that’s what the exhaust tips are showing plus it does have a deeper, throatier exhaust note than stock. Q: Was there any under carriage damage to the car? A: No, none that we could ascertain. Q: What would be the repair cost for the passenger door controls, a/c blower, and headlight module? A: The door and headlight modules can be bought used on ebay for $80 each. We did not get a diagnosis for the hvac blower but if it is the blower motor, ebay has one for $20 and a couple others for $185 but it could just be a relay or a blown fuse. You would still need a mechanic to install parts unless you’re handy and you do it yourself. Q: Have you done any other work to the car? A: Aside from the bodywork and paint, the car received a four wheel alignment prior to our trip. Q: Why are you selling the car? A: We are licensed dealers in the state of Texas and that’s what we do. We are also overstocked right now and unloading some of those cars. Q: How difficult will it be to register a salvage car in my state? A: Most states have no problem registering a salvage vehicle but each state does vary in their registration process. A google search for your particular state should provide the info you need.
