Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This is an original owner 1962 Austin Healey 3000 Mark II. The car was purchased new in Los Angeles in 1962 by the current owner. The title shows it to be a BT7 four seat roadster. The serial number matches the name plate on the fire wall. The car comes with original California pink slip and black license plates. It is being sold as part of the Estate. I am helping the owner with the sale. The car is located in Rancho Santa Fe, CA, 20 miles North of San Diego. This a true garage find California car. The car has spent its entire life in Southern California. New owner is responsible for picking up the car. It will require towing. We will assist tow truck. We will not prep for international shipping--pick up only. The Healey has 36,600 original miles. In my opinion, it needs a restoration and would be a great car to restore as there is no rust. It was running 9 months ago. The metal floor boards are intact as is the trunk bottom. There are only a couple small door dings. The chrome shows 51 years of service. Parts are intact including bows for the top. The original soft top is included and is usable, needing only a new window sewn into the back. The body snaps are not on the car. The owner states the car has never been in an accident and there is no evidence of any body damage or repairs. The car has new brakes and a new starter motor but is not running. Owner thinks the timing is not working properly and needs attention but it could be something else. The engine turns over just fine. If you can get it running, it would be a daily driver as is. Original engine and running gear. This is a four seat car with desirable top loader shift and fiberglass transmission tunnel. It has triple carburetors. Triple carbs were only available in 1962. There is no hard top. The spare tire and wire wheel is included. All five wheels are wire. The running tires are 2 years old and have 100 miles on them. The car has new brakes and newer seat covers. It has been repainted several years ago in original color blue in lacquer. Introduced in March 1961, the 3000 Mark II came with three SU HS4 carburetors and an improved camshaft, designated the BT7 Mark II 4-seat version. A 3000 Mark II BT7 with hardtop and overdrive tested by the British magazine The Motor in 1961 had a top speed of 112.9 mph (181.7 km/h) and could accelerate from 0–60 mph (97 km/h) in 10.9 seconds. A fuel consumption of 23.5 miles per imperial gallon (12.0 L/100 km; 19.6 mpg-US) was recorded. The test car cost £1362 including taxes. A total of 5,096 BT7 Mark II were made. On Nov-21-13 at 07:49:53 PST, seller added the following information: The owner has recently painted the wheels and brake drums and calipers yellow. He did not paint the opposite side and they are still red. This car needs new paint and restoration so bid accordingly. It appears to be a perfect car to restore. There is no Buy It Now price. It will only be sold via auction only. If you are an international buyer, the car will be pushed out of the garage, bumper, top and spare put in car. Buyer may put bumper back on. On Nov-21-13 at 14:28:28 PST, seller added the following information: Additional parts found: original copper knockoff hammer, license plate light, original jack although appears to be injured. Several have asked the general state of the car. It has 51 years of oil, grease and dirt attached to it. That probably protected it from rust. It has also been inside most of its life. There are probably bad seals. Owner thinks generator may be iffy. Owner has new coil but has not installed it. Car has original coil. Owner has put in new seat covers, door panel inserts, dash vinyl, and painted the transmission tunnel, wire wheels and part of the engine in the last 3 years. Some wiring is frayed as shown in fire wall picture. Dash mirror is deglazing. Body was painted 10 years ago in lacquer but needs new paint. Steering wheel is original but is cracking and needs restoring thus the cover. Chrome is usable but needs replating. Spare has original Dunlop bias ply tire. Sheet metal is very straight and pretty much dent free. If I was buying it, I would do so with the understanding that it is a very solid car but needs a restoration. Owner states engine was running strong when last running but I would rebuild it anyway. Transmission is good. Engine bay is dirty. It is no trailer queen it was driven back and forth to the golf club for 40 years. I would hear it pull out of the driveway. It sounded good. Owner urges buyer to see the car any day before the auction end. Additional pictures will be sent upon request. On Nov-25-13 at 13:50:10 PST, seller added the following information: NOTE Mileage odometer is 33,600 not 36,600. On Nov-25-13 at 14:07:05 PST, seller added the following information: International buyers: Please allow 7 days from receipt of wired funds for pickup. Wired funds must be in U.S. dollars only.
