1979 Honda CBX Super Sport Available for the first time since purchased new in 1979 is this wonderful example of Honda’s 6 Cylinder CBX Super Sport. This motorcycle has exceptional provenance, having just One Owner, always been garaged, and traveled a mere 7,462 Miles. But it gets better… the only owner was the Service Manager at San Jose Honda from the mid 1960’s through the mid 1980’s, who is a well known collector of vintage Honda motorcycles, and a Concours Judge. The only reason for selling his CBX is a complete liquidation of all but the rarest of his collector motorcycles, and this is one of the last he has decided to let go. Prior to listing this auction the CBX was given a thorough service, including changing all oils, and replacing both original tires with quality Bridgestone items due to aging concerns. As such, this CBX runs like new. The owner has a large collection of New Old Stock parts to pull from, and replaced the gas tank with a genuine NOS tank due to the smallest of indentations in the original item. As can be seen from the following photographs, this motorcycle is in outstanding original condition, and still wears its original California blue license plate. If like me, you prefer your collector motorcycles to be low mileage original unrestored condition, with original Factory applied paint, and in perfect operational order… then this is probably the CBX you have been waiting for.
