Vehicle Detail
Hello, selling this 1989 Camaro RS. The odometer reads about 6,000 miles, but I believe this to be actually about 106,000 I think, however I'm not sure. The car has the 5.0 liter 305 with some performance work done to it. The motor runs very strong and has some power to it. The car has many new parts to name a few, it has MSD ignition with Accel wires and new plugs, it has a new starter motor, Shorty headers and a 3 inch exhaust system (Not installed, but brand new) Edlebrock intake, performer serise 600 cfm carburator and air cleaner, and the car also has a mild cam with new lifters and push rods. (I do not know the specs or the manufacturer of the cam as one of the previous owners installed it.) The motor also has all new gaskets throughout the motor. The car will fire right up, and runs strong, but I keep having to recharge the battery after it sits because I think it needs a new alternator. The body is straight with a few dings and scratches here and there, the paint isn't in to good shape either, and could probably use a repaint. The car was a southern car for the greater part of its life, and as a result there is no rust on the body at all. The only rust I found was some small spots on the floor boards but nothing that looked serious. Interior is worn and a bit dirty, but usable, and surprisingly the dash isn't cracked. The trunk lifter doesn't work, and the only way to open the trunk is by using the key. The hood I have is an Iroc Z hood with the louvers that is in fairly nice shape. The biggest issue I know of with this car is that it has a bad transmission fluid leak, after we replaced the tranny lines with all new ones and filled the trans with fluid, I came into the garage the next morning to find a large puddle of ATF under the car. Furthur inspection revealed that the leak looks to be coming from the dipstick tub, which deffinatly needs replacing, it looks the rubber grommet in the trans that the dip stick tube goes to seal it in needs replacing, I also noted that the pan is also missing a bolt. So in theory, to stop the leak, one would need a new tube, and the missing bolt as I already have a new rubber grommet. Also note that in the time I've owned the vehicle, I haven't driven it more then a mile so I honestly do not know what shape the transmission is in. However, the transmission engages in all gears when manually shifted into them. and doesn't seem to make any strange noises. What I do know, is when we dropped the pan to drain the old fluid, the old fluid was very dirty looking. The reason I'm selling this car is because I no longer have the time or $$$ to put into this car anymore, and I need my garage back for my other vehicle. This car would make someone a great project car if they had the time to finish it, it mainly needs some tuning, a new dipstick tube and alternator, and I think this car would be drivable. I've invested about $2,000 into this car, and right now, I just need the car gone, so I really don't care that I'm losing money. The performance parts alone are easily about $500 used. I really don't want to junk this car, and I would rather lose money and see it sold to someone who can fix it and enjoy it versus it being crushed. I just need the vehicle out of my garage ASAP. Please note, that the vehicle has a rebuilt salvage title because according to the previous owner, the vehicle was stolen in the 90's and parted out, then when it was recovered it was rebuilt again. Also I have the title in hand, but I have not registered the vehicle in the time I've owned it, so the title is not in my name. I think I covered everything, but if anyone has any questions, please let me know! Buyer: Please note, that I DO NOT have any means of transporting the vehicle anywhere, vehicle will need to be towed as it is not currently drivable. Also note that the vehicle is being sold AS IS, WHERE IS. I will not accept money orders or checks, if the bidder has any questions regarding payment please notify me before the end of the auction. Thanks for looking!!! On Nov-06-13 at 09:20:05 PST, seller added the following information: Buyer Also Note: Vehicle is also for sale locally and auction is subject to end at anytime. Thank You!
