Vehicle Detail

POTENTIAL PLUS PROJECT 1960 Impala Convertible - lots of work done - lot of work to do!!! First a little history - just acquired from the second owner who purchased the car locally in 1965, drove it until about 5 years ago at which time took it to a body shop for full restoration - disassembly took place and new floor pans and new trunk floor was installed. One new rocker panel installed and one started. Front fenders, hood, trunk and doors were prepped and primed. Engine, transmission and top removed. The body shop went out of business so the owner removed and returned the convertible to his home a couple weeks ago. As a result, the transmission, radiator, radiator support and hub caps turned up missing. The engine was secured in the engine cradle temporarily for ease of shipping (actually turned 180 degrees). The fenders, inner fenders, hood, trunk and bumpers have been reinstalled just temporarily for convenience of shipping only. There are remaining rust issues on the body , frame, part of back seat floor, rear quarters, rear frame tails and under body frame support arms. Includes starter, generator, carb, steering pump, torque converter, drive shaft, air cleaner, gas tank and lots of misc. parts and hardware not pictured. Paint code shows it is the right original black body with white top and red interior. Body VIN number matches title. Has a 283 V8 with 2 barrel carb, automatic transmission (now missing), has rare power steering, AM radio and tinted glass. Aside from rust issues, body and bumpers are very straight. No evidence of any accident damage. Previous owned claimed the car ran good prior to taking to body shop for restoration. There are misc. boxes of parts, but cannot determine what may be missing. A donor car would be a definite plus in this restoration. Top cylinders are present and top bows and mechanism are in remarkable condition. Of course, it will need a new cover. Interior seat covers, door panels and boot are about 15 years old. Please do not bid if you are not up to a major project even though it is very tempting. This will make a beautiful classic at completion and well worth the effort. The 1960 Chevrolet Impala convertible is unarguably gaining in popularity and value as availability is rapidly disappearing. Not sure if everything can be packed in the car so please take that into consideration when arranging for shipment. If you have a negative feedback or a feedback rating of "0" please e-mail me information to indicate that you are a serious bidder so that your bid will not be disqualified Sorry, but there are some who just play games.
