Update:  Dale asked that I add a few words about the aftermarket turbo that was recently installed.  He says that the new turbo's whistle on acceleration is more noticeable than the stock unit, which is relatively quiet.  The diesel mechanic at the Ford dealership in Springfield has inspected the truck and performed a smoke test to look for leaks and found no issues.  Apparently, some aftermarket turbos do not have "silencer rings" and this is the source of the whistle.  Having heard the truck, I can report that the whistle is typical of any aftermarket turbo and if I hadn't learned that the stock unit was quieter, then I'd never have suspected an aftermarket part.  Again, the turbo works great and we're simply adding this caveat in the interests of full disclosure.
