Vehicle Detail
The TR8 is the best Triumph they ever built. It is not only roomier than you would expect, more room than in a Corvette of that vintage, it also handles very well and has the power you'd expect from it's appearance. This car is dead reliable. In the 7 years of my ownership, it never left me stranded. I run Mobil 1 oil in it and change it every year, even though some years I only put less than 2000 mls on it. The fuel injection model is so much like a new car that one often forgets that the car one's riding in is in fact 33 years old. Taking drives with fellow club members and their cars, I average 28 mls/gal. The car came standard with power steering and disc brakes in the front. Only 360 fuel injected TR8's were ever built! This is a rare opportunity to own one of the best examples. The car is a true southwestern car. It was first sold in California. I bought it from the second owner in 2006 out of Olympia,WA. There is, and I can not stress this enough, no corrosion of any kind nowhere to be found. The car has a KONI suspension kit installed along with PANASPORT wheels. The interior has been upgraded with real leather seats and a FITTIPALDI steering wheel. The engine breathes through a K&N air filter. The headlight inserts have been replaced with German, asymmetrical headlight fixtures. Way brighter light without any dark spots and replaceable H4 inserts. The front turn signal/ parking light lenses have been replaced with the attractive European style lenses. This Triumph sports its original paint job. After many years in the sun it has lost some of its shine on the horizontal surfaces, but is still sharp looking and without any problems. Good thing is, there are no hidden surprises under original paint. The car has never been in an accident and the undercarriage is as rust free and clean as the rest of the car. The valve covers and the intake plenum have been chromed, but I have a second set in the original color that goes with the car. I also have the owners manual for it as well as the original cassette radio. There is no cracks in the dash board and even the door panels are still looking sharp. I replaced the carpet in 2010 since the color of the original one had faded. There is a slight oil leak from the oil pan gasket, but nothing dramatic, just a small spot or two after sitting for a while. The engine runs strong and without any signs of wear. I always warm it up for the firs 10 mls or so before I even rev it up beyond 2000 rpm. The transmission shifts with ease and no noise at all.
