Vehicle Detail

1979 CorvetteWide BodyGreenwood ** NO RESERVE ** Description: This Corvette has a Greenwood Wide Body conversion. The modifications were done by Greenwood when the car was new, it has spent most of its life in storage and would have come with the American Racing Wheels and BF Goodrich T/A tires. The engine has undergone modifications as well, that I understand were also done while it was having the body modifications completed. The radio at some point was changed from the original but has since been removed, there were no speaker holes cut in the car. Originally the car was a medium blue and has been changed to the white is today. This car has power steering, power brakes, power windows and door locks, air conditioning, tilt and telescopic steering column and mirrored glass T-Roof panels that are in excellent condition, there are no cracks in the windshield. The cars serial number is 1Z8749S410195. It carries a British Columbia title, the title is clear and normal status. Reason for selling: I currently have a collection of cars but I'm thinking of selling my acreage and moving to the city, with this in mind storage will be come a problem so its time to down size. Mechanical: The car drives well, it stops starts and steers as it should, there is no indication of excessive oil use and the transmission shifts properly. Even after sitting for long periods of time it starts well. The tires are as new, I have not tried the air conditioning but the belt is still in place. The engine has been modified, it has headers an aluminum intake and changed distributor that I can see, what else has been done I can't say although it seems much more powerful than a stock 1979 Corvette. I'm not saying the car is perfect but it runs well and I would trust it to go on a long road trip. In the last week I took it on a 3 hour round trip, I think this is a car you could fly in to pick up and drive home. Body: The body is in good condition with no sign of collision damage. The modifications were done well with only a couple of minor cracks. The paint looks good in the pictures and until you get right up to it it s hard to notice the flaws, but it is showing its age with chips and some peeling however it is still very presentable. Interior: The interior is in good condition, there are no tears in the seats but it looks like a mouse may have chewed some carpet. The rear cargo cover is in place, the T-Roof storage bags are missing, the console has been cut to accommodate a different radio. There are no other modifications to the interior. History: I met the third owner of the car and from what I am told the history is as follows (this is a second hand account and although I can not promise it to be true I have no reason to doubt it). The car was one of three cars specialty ordered for a movie or TV show in France. The cars were built by Greenwood using identical new Corvettes. When the original company was done with them this car was purchased by and Arab and shipped to Bahrain in Saudi Arabia where the new owner had it painted white. At some point the car was sold to the third owner who shipped it to Canada. Several years later the third owner lost the car when his business failed, I bought it last year from the lender. I have checked the registration history and can find no record of it being registered in Canada at any time before this year, this would support the third owners claim that the car was in storage since it was imported. The odometer reading on the car is 56,000 kilometers or 38,000 miles, if the car was in storage that long then I assume the mileage to be original. Overall: This is an unrestored, original custom car that has been well cared for, not perfect but if your looking a rare and unique Corvette that won't cost more than your house then this may be the car for you. All older cars need some attention this car is no exception, it will need paint at some point in the future but is presentable and enjoyable as it is. I'm offering the car unreserved because I'm serious about selling it and if I put a reserve on it at what I feel it is worth or what I paid for it, it may not sell. Location: The car is located just outside of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, about 3 hours from the US border. If you are a buyer from outside of Canada I will help with importation as I am familiar with US and overseas procedure for importation. I can in many cases help arrange a shipper, but this is time consuming so I will only try to get a quote for the winning bidder, however the Corvette runs well and a road trip in British Columbia might be a great way to spend some time this fall if you want to drive it home. Payment: Cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer is acceptable. Payment must be received within 7 days of the close of the auction NO EXCEPTIONS. I can store the car at no charge for several months if needed. Scammers: I've heard it all don't waste my time or yours. If you have less than 10 feedback please contact me after you bid so I can confirm that you are in fact a serious buyer Feel free to call me at 250-515-1110 or by email at bsingbeil@msn.com Thanks for looking!!!
