1981 CAMARO Z28 NUMBERS MATCHING WITH FACTORY BUILD SHEET AND FULL FRAME OFF RESTORATION Billy Z Restorations is proud to offer another meticulous 1981 Z28. The car came to us from the great State of Maryland (go Terps!) as a complete running/driving second owner car. We started a full frame-off restoration by removing the drive train and interior. The motor was sent to Central Florida Machine for a full rebuild, which consisted of boring the motor .30 over a 5-angle valve job on the heads. We installed flat top pistons, line-honed, and turned the crank. The motor was reassembled adding a comp cam 480/234 Cam, an Elderbrock RPM intake, a Holley 750 double pumper carb. We then added the March Serpentine Pulley System with all new a/c compressor, water pump, p/s pump and alternator. The turbo 350C trans was sent out to Alternative Trans to be completely rebuilt and a B&M shift kit with a 2,200 lock-up stall. While this was being done, we put the body on a rotisserie and sand blasted the entire car. We welded in a new rear floor pan, then it was time for the Raptor bed-liner, which was color matched. The sub-frame, rear-end, control arms, inner fenders, and core support were powder coated in a glossy black. During reassembly, all new bushings, fuel lines, brake lines, rotors, calibers, brake shoes, leaf springs, coil springs, gas tank and shocks were installed. We dropped the car 2” in the front and 1” in the rear and added American Racing Rev 100 wheels. The rear wheels are 18X9.5 and the front wheels are 18X8 wrapped with Nexen 275/35/18 on the rear and 225/40/18 in the front. This gave this Z the aggressive stance you see. We added a Goodmark 2” steel cowl hood to fit the 375 HP SBC motor. The car was painted with a base clear paint in Ferrari Red. We based the car, put 2 coats of clear, wet sanded it, and put 2 more coats of clear. Out of the paint booth, we wet sanded again and buffed to a mirror shine. The interior was completely redone with a hand-stitched dash, console, and seats. The headliner was replaced along with door panels, armrests, sail panels, and the carpet we added auto meter mini-triple gauges custom mounted in the console.
