1972 F100 Explorer: Original, rust free, highly optioned, fully functioning time capsule. Everything works on this truck. Specifications: 390 2V C6 Automatic Air Conditioning Electronic Speed Control Power Steering Power Brakes AM Radio Two additional plastic gas tanks Auxiliary Towing Brake Step up rear bumper Ford Explorer Hub Caps Bed Rails Manual trailer brake lever (left of steering wheel) Original Condition: 92,000 miles Original is often overused and exaggerated so let me be very clear on what I mean in using original in describing this F100; as it came from the Ford Factory and not modified by man since, period. It is virtually impossible to find in a 41 year old vehicle is this good a shape due primarily to weather, road salts, owner use or neglect, and more. However, the photographs you will see of this truck will prove the incredible condition it is in. Why? Four primary reasons: It spent its entire life in Dry Nebraska where no road salts are used, was only used recreationally, was stored inside, and the owners had plenty of resources to keep it in excellent running condition. Frankly, I don’t think a similar quality truck exists like it in the country. Take a look at the photographs and judge for yourself. lf you want additional pictures, I am happy to send whatever photos you want. Just tell me where to point the lens. Interior: The dash has no cracks except for a minor separation at the speaker perforated area. The headliner is perfect. All lights work except the light on the radio. However, the radio itself does work. Even the speaker sound quality is clear and not distorted. The seat is very comfortable with no seam separation or tired padding. The arm rests have minor wear but they are still a 9 on a 10 scale. The door panels are literally perfect. The textured rubber floor mat is not worn. The steering wheel is smooth as silk and yes the horn works as it should. All gauges, blinker, even the windshield washer fluid dispenses… Although just on the driver’s side. Exterior: All original weather stripping, window felts, exterior rubber (window gaskets, gas tank filler gasket), are not cracked or faded whatsoever. The tail gate area has been re sprayed. Everywhere else is original Ford Oxford White. The undercarriage is rust free except for normal surface rust here and there. The body painted surfaces are rust free as well except for a couple of areas in the door jams where surface rust only is present. I could have removed it with steel wool but left it on intentionally so the viewer could see the true shape of the truck. The underside of the hood is without any rust at all. No body filler of any type exists anywhere on the vehicle. Flaws: The windshield has one crack running vertically to the far left on the driver’s side but this does not impact visibility. There are also a couple of scratches and dings on the hood. All trim is intact but some show a few door dings. However, these minor imperfections do not impair the overall excellent condition of this truck. The truck’s functionality and reliability were experienced firsthand by me because I just drove it across the United States from Nebraska to Georgia without any issue whatsoever. You can fly into Georgia and drive this truck back home, wherever you live, with confidence.
