I've had a few email offers for my GT6 so to be fair to everyone I have just updated the auction with a buy it now price. It's a little less than I was expecting to sell for, but still reasonable. Now is the time to go for it if you want this car. I would love to have this transaction done this weekend if possible. Thanks for looking and/or watching. You are bidding on my 1971 Triumph GT6. This is a really rare car. The best estimate from a member of an established GT6 forum posted that only about 3000 out of the original 13042 MKIII's that were made came to the states and a bunch of them got shipped overseas when they didn't sell. Of the original 10000 in the UK, only 826 are currently registered, that's less than 10% left. Using that math there are less than 300 here in the states. All I know is that when you go to a British Car event, you will see hundreds of Spitfires and MG's and maybe 1 GT6. The Car: This particular car has been well taken care of and has very low miles for its 42 years. The engine is as clean as you will ever find and even has an oil cooler installed. The electronic overdrive works flawlessly and is a pretty rare option (makes the car a 6 speed). The ignition system has been upgraded and all the plugs, cables, and hoses have been replaced. Just look at the pictures, the engine on this car is a gem! The exterior is in good shape. The paint is not professional quality but looks great from 5 feet away. There are no major dings or dents, just a few small blemishes. The front fender wells have been trimmed a bit to fit the larger performance wheels and have been capped with trim molding. The suspension is in great shape with newer shocks/struts all around. The tie rods have been changed out and everything else is very clean. The brakes are in great shape and work perfectly. A stainless exhaust was installed recently and sounds beautiful. The wheels and tires are also new and have less than 500 miles on them. The interior is in good shape. Newer carpet and headliner and a new wood dash was just installed. The seats are pretty good but have a few tears. All gauges are period and stock including the expensive dual oil and water temp Smiths gauge I just installed. There is a newer Kenwood stereo with remote and speaker box included as well. This GT6 even has the very rare medallion commemorating the sports car of America national road racing champion for 1969 and 1970. It just needs mounted on the dash. The issues: The engine runs great but is having minor problems idling with no choke since I got it home to Utah. I am pretty sure it has to do with the high elevation. Probably just needs a small adjust and synch on the twin carbs. The transmission synchros are starting to wear in second gear. If you shift slow there is no problem, you just can't speed shift into second. I have been told that the synchros tend to wear out on these cars pretty easily. There is even a spare transmission just in case. The needle on the tachometer just broke of a few weeks ago. The innards of the tach have been upgraded to electronic since the ignition has been upgraded. It works fine the needle just needs replaced. The body on the car is solid, but where the trimming was done on the front fender wells to fit the larger wheels there are a few blemishes in the paint. Also, the trimmed edges could use some cleaning up. The previous owner had the car painted at a local shop and it is not the highest quality. There are small blemishes and the finish is not high end. The car looks great from 5 feet away... The sunroof and the hood scoop are not stock, and some purists have critiqued the car for this. Personally I love the sunroof for the view and the breeze. The scoop was installed by the previous owner to help keep the engine cooler on longer drives but could probably be eliminated now that I added the radiator housing. The extras: With this car you will get the complete collection of spare parts that I have amassed. There are 2 full sets of spare wheels and tires, one set is brand new, plus I also have the original Triumph center caps if you want to go back to stock. There is extra glass and windows, mechanical components, engine parts, bumpers, carbs, etc. I have spare gaskets and trim pieces, and a spare radiator and transmission with electronic overdrive well. There are also all the components to rebuild the heater/cooling system if you choose to do so. The value of the spare parts alone are worth over $2000 per Ebay pricing of individual items. Just about any part that needs repaired I have a spare for... Final word: This car has been a blast to own. It is a very unique and rare car and is very fun to drive. It has been reliable and hasn't given me any major problems. It has it's small quirks, but show me an older car that doesn't. I have set the minimum very low for this sale, lower than the average NADA retail value, and well below the price of the last 2 similar ones that have sold on Ebay. You will not be disappointed and will be getting a great deal! I am open to partial trade offers as well. I am looking for an older cafe or bobber style motorcycle, a nice mountain bike, a tear drop camper, guns, high end digital SLR camera and lenses, a mini cooper, VW Bug, Ghia, or Type 3, and lots of other things. Let me know what you have and we can work out a dollar value for it. The winner will need to send a non-refundable $500.00 down payment through Paypal within 24 hours of winning the auction. The remainder to be paid with cash or money order upon pick up within 7 days. Other options are possible but only after contacting me. Take a good look at the pictures, I hope you like what you see. This is my first car sale on Ebay so feel free to ask any questions you might have. Thanks for participating. Good luck! I just took it out for a 60 mile run in 90+ degree weather this weekend and there was no problems with the idle and choke whatsoever. The car ran beautifully up until 65 MPH then had a very slight shimmy that came and went. I changed the front tie-rods out a few weeks ago so will double check the torque on them, I'm sure that's the problem. Everywhere I stopped people asked about and admired it. Whoever wins this will be getting a very good and reliable driver, and looker as well.
