Vehicle Detail
1972 Plymouth Roadrunner, 400/727 Automatic car. This is a real factory RM23 big-block, floor shifter, bucket seat, metallic orange Roadrunner. 1972 was the lowest production year of any of the 1968 – 1974 B-body Roadrunners. In 1972, only a TOTAL of 6,830 Roadrunner were made. 1489 of these were 400 Automatic cars like this one (Source – the internet) Interesting Original Options Coded On the Body Tag Include: Tor-Red/Hemi Orange Paint Power Steering Power Disk Brakes Bucket Seats Slapstick Console Shifter In-dash Factory Tachometer Dual Color-keyed Mirrors Hood Pins Slotted Exhaust Tips AM Radio Inside Hood Release It also has a rear speaker control, which I am not sure is original or not. It is not indicated on the tag. This car was originally from Los Angeles CA judging by the oil change stickers in the doorjamb and backed up by the N95 code for California Emissions. The car is incredibly devoid of rust save for expected surface rust, and a few bubbles low on the car (see photos). The floor pans, trunk pan, frame, window channels, cowl, and everything else is California solid. I would estimate 60% of the paint is still original and most of the original decals are still present. There appears to be plastic filler in the quarter panels. Tabs expired in 1996. I have owned it and kept it garaged since 2001. No place to store inside now, so the car goes to a new home. I bought this car as a complete roller without engine/trans. Also missing at purchase were the slotted exhaust tips, original bucket seats, and original steering wheel. I have since found some seat cores and the correct steering wheel. The engine compartment has been re-painted correct EV2 and the front suspensions fully rebuilt with all new components including premium bushings, moog ball joints, tie rods ends, and KYB shocks. Wheels are used 15x7 Rallyes (rear wheels widened by an inch or so). Tires are junk but hold air. Existing dual exhaust is set up for headers. Also Included With Sale: New Black Carpet New Washer Bottle (installed) New “Voice of the Roadrunner” Horn New Battery Tray Kit New Trunk Weather Stripping All New Decals Including Black Reflective Strobe Stripe, running birds, jack decal, etc. New Legendary Front and Rear Seat Covers (Black with Orange Inserts) Used 2nd Pair of Taillight Lenses Use Pair of Hood Wedges (or whatever you call them - see pics) New Rear Sail Panels New Package Tray (Installed) New Jute Matting for Package Tray New Jute Matting for Seat Divider New Outer Side Window Seals (set of 4) Purchased price value of these parts was about $1400. I also have and am including the hard-to-find original 72-0nly RR grille complete and in very good condition. The grille alone for this car will fetch anywhere from $1000-$1500. Car wiring appears to be relatively un-butchered except in the trunk where trailer wiring has been spliced in. All glass is good, front turn signal lenses are awesome, and you can make a good set of taillights out of the four that come with the car. This car in not your typical rusty, moldy, pieced together junker. You will save thousands by starting your project with this car versus another car that has rust or is a basket case missing pieces that you don’t even know are gone. Other stuff: The complete original jack is in the trunk, original front and rear (72 first year) sway bars are still installed, 8/3/4 chunk is non-sure grip maybe 3.23 (?) ratio, driveshaft, trans cross member, and motor mounts included, and there are a few more boxes of misc. parts I have collected that go with.
