THIS IS THE KIND OF FORD THUNDERBIRD HERITAGE COLLECTORS DREAM OF FINDING! Please see all the pictures and videos I have taken of this car at the links below. There is also a link that talks more about the Thunderbird Heritage (only made in 1979). http://s98.photobucket.com/user/colangp/library/#/user/colangp/library/1979%20Thunderbird%20Heritage?sort=3&page=0&_suid=137165801436108084232430260737 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl4rm2dvCM4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD1nhEoaqDI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ5Fzwj44wI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sV622vojxi8 http://automotivemileposts.com/tbird/tbird1979heritage.html This amazing “survivor”, original numbers matching, 1979 Ford Thunderbird Heritage with 92,000 original miles on it has had a total of 4 owners in its 34 year pampered life. I am the fourth owner. The original owner, from what I was told, was an elderly couple. He was a rocket scientist in San Diego, CA where the car spend at least the first 30 years or so of its life. The last few years it was on the coast of Oregon so it’s always been a west coast car, free from any salt. Now on to the description of this gorgeous vehicle. This Ford Thunderbird was never smoked in, was driven with great care by all of its owners, lovingly cared for and properly maintained and always garaged since new which you can see from the pictures. Not only does it look new, it drives like new! The original owner’s manual is still in the glove box. Included with the car is the original jack, jack instructions and spare tire which look to have never been used. It still has the factory “blue paint” covering the whitewall. I have lots of the receipts from the original owner and previous owner validating the mileage and a list of items done to the car. The previous owner put a LOT of money into this car ($3500 in receipts) for maintenance items and it’s completely turn-key. The car needs nothing mechanically done to it. The following work has been recently done. New Magnaflow dual exhaust system New upper and lower radiator hoses and coolant flush New door and trunk weather-stripping Rebuilt carburetor New belts Newer battery and battery cables New “American Classic” tires New front and rear shocks New fuel filter New thermostat New oil and temp senders Recent tune-up including plugs/wires/distributor cap/rotor AC conversion to R134 (ice cold) Transmission fluid changed Recent Oil Change This T-Bird is now being made available to some very lucky person. The only reason I’m selling it is because I have my eye on another classic car I found. If it doesn’t sell, I’m perfectly OK with hanging on to it. I love all kinds of classic cars. I am open to doing an even trade for another classic car of similar quality and value so let me know what you have! This TBird was never hit and everything is in very good to excellent factory original condition. All the lights (including the flip up headlight doors), turn signals, horn, gauges (except the gas gauge – needs a sending unit), wipers, power windows/locks/seat and radio are in perfect working order. Remember that annoying door buzzer when you inserted the key? Even THAT works perfectly! No electrical issues at all. The paint (which is almost 100% factory original), chrome bumpers (virtually showroom new original condition with only a small scuff on the bottom right side and small scratch on the front top – otherwise, zero rust or pitting), chrome trim around the wheel wells, stainless trim and rubber trim are all in very good to excellent condition. This car handles beautifully and holds the road nice and straight at 40 MPH or 70 MPH. No pulling at all and is very tight and responsive. The car tracks straight. The brakes work beautifully with no issues at all. This TBird rides on a new set of “American Classic” white wall all-season radial tires mounted on the original factory turbine wheels which are like brand new (no pitting or scuffs at all). The tires have maybe 2000 miles on them and are $900 tires (have receipt). The exterior is incredible! The mostly original maroon color still shines like new! It honestly looks a 3 year old car. No road rash along the bottom at all. It has maybe two small nicks but from 5 feet away, they are hardly noticeable. No dings or dents anywhere! The floors, frame and trunk areas as well as under the hood and trunk are all solid and rust free with no signs or rot anywhere. Same for all the door jams and under the doors (see pictures). NO RUST!! The trunk compartment is in near perfect condition with its original plush carpeted areas intact and ZERO RUST. All the glass is virtually perfect. One tiny chip on the windshield but not anywhere in the drivers view. The vinyl top is in as new condition and is original to the car. No rips, tears or fading anywhere, which is even more proof this car was garaged its whole life. All the doors open and close effortlessly, just as new and all the door jams look new as well. NO RUST anywhere here. But that’s just the beginning! The stunning interior is absolutely breathtaking and 100% original! Nothing has been modified or “cut up” in any way. It looks exactly as it did back in 1979 and looks almost new. The upholstery, door panels, seat backs, carpet, headliner (no sagging, fading or rips), dash pad (no cracks, just small blemish on top of dash pad on passenger side), rear package tray (no cracks or fading), chrome and stainless trim pieces are in excellent to near new condition. This interior is, for all intensive purposes, in brand new original condition. This TBird is equipped with the original AM/FM stereo with front and rear speakers (which works perfectly), power steering, power brakes, electric clock (not working), cigar lighter (works great), power antenna, power trunk release, tilt wheel, cruise control (works great!) and the factory power sunroof works great with zero leaks. It also has power windows (move very fast), power locks, power drivers seat, rear defrost and leather wrapped steering wheel. I just had a brand new Magnaflow dual exhaust system installed and it sounds great. A nice, quiet deep rumble sound. The A/C blows cold with no issues. The heat works great with no issues. This TBird has the original 351 CU Windsor V8 engine hooked to its original 3 speed transmission. Both perform as new. Absolutely no knocking, smoking or hesitation from the engine and the transmission shifts through the gears like a new car. No leaks anywhere and no burning of any oil. It’s very smooth with no problems at all. There are absolutely no issues with overheating and stays in the “normal” temperature range the whole time, every time. This 1979 Ford Thunderbird Heritage came with the following equipment 351 CU V8 (Windsor) W/4 BBL CARB AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AIR CONDITIONING POWER STEERING POWER BRAKES RALLY GAUGE PACKAGE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER CRUISE CONTROL AM/FM STEREO WITH POWER ANTENNA DUAL OUTSIDE ADJUSTABLE MIRRORS POWER WINDOWS POWER DOOR LOCKS MAP LIGHTS SPLIT BENCH SEAT (POWER DRIVER SEAT) ELECTRIC CLOCK DELUXE CLOTH POWER SUNROOF The base price of this TBIRD brand new was over $10,000. Ford put every possible option on this model TBird (Heritage edition). I see no reason why the winning bidder couldn’t fly in and drive this vehicle home to anywhere in the country. As everybody knows, nothing is perfect. The clock isn’t working. The gas gauge isn’t working. It needs a new sending unit (I had it checked out). The paint has a couple of small chips as I mentioned earlier here and there but are hardly noticeable, unless you get right up on the car. Terms of Sale: BIDS ARE BINDING.
