For sale is a 1983 Honda VT500 Ascot with only 10,873 original miles in Candy Bourgogne Red. It has a six speed transmission, liquid-cooled and shaft drive. It is all original except for after market blinker stalks (that look better than the stock one’s). I bought the bike new from Tri-City Cycle Center in Anaheim, CA, in 1983, and have been the only owner and rider it has ever known. It has been protected and stored in a garage environment with a fitted cover. The VT500 Ascot was a 2-year production model, and is quite collectable and I think you will agree it is one of the best looking road bikes ever made, which is why I bought it. They are great for the collector, the first-time rider or just to cruise around. There is little or no paint fading and there are a few rub marks and one small dent, on the gas tank, right of the gas filler, a result of being moved several times. The tires are replacements (Dunlop) of the correct size(s) and are in 90% condition. All electrical components work fine, as well as the tach and speedo. The battery is in good condition, a replacement Die Hard. I have the original manual for it, and tool kit and all the original papers. I also have a Clymer’s repair manual. It has never sat outside (except for riding) and never been in the rain. At around 10,000 miles, I had the carburetors rebuilt and a complete service and tune up at Honda of Russellville (AR). It has a clear (MO) title and a current MO inspection tag and is licensed instate thru 2015. What it needs: A few years ago the headlight rim broke and I have not replaced it. It is available OEM for around $48.00 and you may find a used one for a lot cheaper. It is currently held in place with tape, I am not proud of it but you do what you have to do.
