Vehicle Detail

GENERAL INFORMATION: It's time to sell my Original 1965 Ford Mustang Convertible with 30,613 miles reading on the odometer. (I assume it has rolled over as the title states *exceeds mechanical limits*). I am a motivated seller and this car will sell to the highest bidder as I need to free up space in the garage for the next project. The KY title is clean and clear and in my name. This is a very Solid Category 3 car with strong Category 2 traits. I would put it at the mid to high 70s. The previous owner had the car since high school and it was garage kept the whole time while he restored it. He states he purchased it from an older gentleman from Ohio who was the original owner. I took the car in and went through it to bring it up to this state. When purchased the car was easily a Category 6 when I took possession on 1/19/2012. It has taken me over a year and a few months to get her sorted to the current state. This is a "stampings" matching car in that early mustangs such as this were not truly numbers matching but the parts were made around the same time. Further, the exhaust manifold, hood stampings, door VIN and engine block and transmission stampings are all from the same period. 80 = FINE A Completely operable vehicle that is possibly an older restoration or an original car that shows minimal wear. This rating would be considered “show” quality. 70 = VERY GOOD A nice, complete car, possibly an older restoration that might be showing signs of age. This rating might be used for a well cared for daily driven vehicle. I would love to get my hands on the original painter and beat him senseless. If he had taken a little more time and rubbed the paint out better this would have taken the car to a show quality level. He seemed to have rushed the job in some places and did great work on others. On the whole if you are as nit picky as I am it will need to be rubbed out with 1500-2000 and re-buffed or completely re-done. Otherwise you can enjoy her as she sits as she isn't all that ugly! The car has the usual nicks and scratches for a vehicle of this period. Please look at pictures! The convertible top fabric was replaced in 2003 and is in excellent shape with no appreciable rips or tears to include the rear plastic window. The rear passenger wheel well will need attention at some point due to rust (I've seen worse) but otherwise I did not notice any other severe rust issues. The floor pans, trunk and gas tank are all solid. The exhaust is a little pitted and rusted but very functional and has a very awesome period correct chrome exhaust tip. No rust bubbling on the paint surface and I have scoured every inch of it. Panel alignment is not perfect but is as listed in line with a Cat 3 carBadges are in great condition. I replaced the "F" on the hood and added the "mustang" on the back.Chrome trim is in great shape with some pieces showing minor pitting but no rust whateverA lot of pieces are brand new replacementsNew chrome license plate brackets WHEELS/TYRES/DRIVELINE & SUSPENSIONStock 4 lugnut wheels with beautiful spoked knock off hub caps. Brand new whitewall tyres all the way around!all 4 shocks replaced by previous ownernew rear leaf springsRear u-joint bearings re-packed ELECTRICALThe car would not start dependably when I took ownership of her. I systematically went through the electrical and this is what was repaired.New AlternatorNew FusesNew RegulatorNew BatteryHooked up turn SignalsNew Turn Signal FlasherNew H/L control switchFixed tail lampsOpened up dash and replaced all bulbsNew Bulbs all aroundNew Pertronix II Electronic IgnitionNew CoilsReplaced all interior lightsHooked up radioHooked up HornHook up heater (didn't do it as it is very hot in KY!Intermittent short with left rear running lamp. (couldn't be arsed to track it down)For real world use would recommend changing out the radio to one of those newer nifty do-dads unless you like listening to AM!Fuel gauge operates intermittentlyThe convertible top is in excellent shape and was replaced by the previous owner. It operates very smoothly and opens and closes without issue.Any and all original take offs will come with the sale. INTERIORThe interior is in great shape for the age, with the usual nicks and chips here and there. At some point the previous owner upgraded the rear vinyl seat coversI replaced the driver side regulator, both passenger windows are fineCarpet is in great condition Door looks will need to be looked atDriver side rear window regulator will need replacedNo large tears or rips anywhereincludes rear black convertible top snap cover will need rear seat belts installedNew trunk liner and wheel cover with tool bag and a spare DRIVETRAIN/FUEL SYSTEM/COOLING The engine is a 200CID I6 that idles beautifully and is very responsive. 3 speed toploader manual transmission with a Hurst Shifter has been completely rebuilt with new synchros. It shifts great if you know what you are doing and stays in gearThis transmission was known as the paper transmission and is intended for an experienced driver, otherwise you will find yourself adjusting linkages or rebuilding it (which is not a lot of fun after the first time)If this is for a non-mechanical person I would strongly advise replacing it to an auto or 4 or 5 speed manualIf you are a purist then there is no other way to go!1st gear is not synchronized so you need to be at a dead stop to shift into it (up or down) which can get annoying in city driving. Double clutching is highly recommended The exhaust does not smoke There appears to be a very small oil leak only after the car has been driven and parked. Once parked for a day or so it goes away. I believe it is a very small RMS leak but nothing troublesome at this time just more irritating.Brand new Aluminum radiatorNew belt/adjustedSingle Barrel Carburetor fully rebuilt with newer air-filterI believe that the carburetor restricts the performance of this engine (just older technology.) For the purist I would keep it, but for regular commuting I would highly recommend upgrading it to a 2 barrel. After literally ceaseless hours of tinkering I can safely say that I have squeezed all I can out of this unit! This vehicle is being sold "as is" "where is" with no warranty consented or implied. Please do not email me 6 months later and whine that the vehicle wasn't all that is was cracked up to be or I didn't describe it enough detail. I am human and may have missed something but I am also listing this as a Solid CAT-3 vehicle not a 100 point concours, rotisserie restoration. If you want a car such as that please look elsewhere (there are a bunch on here for 30 grand) I've tried to give a good complete explanation of the car with multiple photos and discography (check out the video at the end).) If you need any further info please contact me prior to the sale via eBay and I will be happy to answer all and any questions! My schedule is very busy so I will not be around to show the car. Sorry, no test drives or tire kickers. (you are more than welcome to drive her after you purchase her) Please be sure to have your funds secured prior to bidding. I have truly enjoyed working on this car and it will always be a part of me and my family. I hope you have fun either taking her to the next level or enjoying her as is and maintaining her. Comes with 2 sets of keys. As always, thanks for looking and happy bidding! On Jul-14-13 at 11:53:52 PDT, seller added the following information: CONGRATS! YOU GUYS/GALS DID IT!
