Vehicle Detail
I bought this 64 El Camino in Floydada, Texas back in October 2012 with the intention of restoring it over the next couple of years. However, the company I work for recently transferred me from Amarillo to Fort Worth and I simply have no place to keep this truck at my new location...hence the auction. If you read nothing else, read this - THIS IS A PROJECT CAR. It has all the standard features of a project car - dry rotted rubber, rust (ie. floor pans), fluid leaks, worn out parts (too many to list here), some stuff works, some stuff doesn't. That said, it starts every time, runs, and drives just fine. It is registered in Texas and has a clear Texas title. I have replaced the non-OEM carburetor with a new Edelbrock along with hoses, belts, battery, breather, etc. The truck was originally equipped with air conditioning but the compressor is missing. It has a 327 engine and powerglide transmission. I don't know if the engine is original (clearly the aluminum intake manifold is not) but it runs strong. The transmission may be original but I can't say for certain on that either. The body appears to be salvageable. My plan was to have the truck soda blasted and get a look at what's really going on...then decide how to proceed. The only visible damage (fender bender) is on the driver's side front quarter panel below the headlight (see photos). I live in Fort Worth and this vehicle is on a locked storage lot in Amarillo. So, given the geography my brother is helping me show/sell it. If you want to look it over before bidding (something I highly encourage) I can put you in contact with him. He works, so expect to meet him after 5 pm or on the weekend. I have no idea what the actual mileage is...the odometer says 21628 but I'm confident that's rolled over a time or two. I will not end the auction early...so, please don't ask. Finally, please ask your questions early and I will answer them ASAP.
