Up for auction is a running / driving 1967 1/2 Datsun Roadster. It has the 1600 engine and 4 speed transmission. No reserve, so the high bid takes it! The body is very solid and seems to be almost completely free of rust. There is plenty of surface rust, but only a couple of places where a very small amount of penetration has occurred. Overall, this is a good start for a restoration. 1967 1/2 is an interesting year because it was the last true roadster ever produced. No other “roadster” from any manufacturer after it has a removable windshield. And it was the first year for some modern upgrades like dual-chamber brake master cylinders. This model has nice big finned aluminum rear brake drums and dual-cylinder front calipers. Plus this one has a brand-new clutch master cylinder. The original jack is still in place! Again, this car does run and drive, but I would not drive it home. (Free delivery up to 250 miles!) The fuel hoses are new, but none of the radiator hoses or heater hoses have been replaced. The tires all have great tread, but there are some nasty cracks in the sidewalls from age. I wouldn’t trust the tires to go even 10 miles. The brakes barely work; the pedal gets solid right at the end of the travel. I do not consider the brakes safe for driving home. They might just need to be bled, but I recommend that they be gone through before being put on the road. The tach, temp gauge, and oil pressure gauges work. I haven’t driven it far enough recently to remember if the speedometer works. The alternator works fine, (13.5 volts) but the voltmeter gauge on the dash doesn’t work. Some of the electrical doesn’t work (headlights and tail lights) although the windshield wipers do work! The front shocks look to be in good shape; KYP “Gas-A-Just”. All the latches for the fiberglass top work fine. The soft top frame comes with the car, but will need to be re-covered. It comes with other parts; some of the chrome, the headlight trim rings, center console, radio “box,” etc. Interior is pretty rough; seats are thrashed, but restorable. Carpet is worn through in a couple of places. The rear carpet has holes for a roll bar, although there is no roll bar with this car. The dash panel and door panels have been redone in the past using flat aluminum plate. It actually looks pretty cool, but it’s definitely not factory. There is no dash pad. Side mirrors are aftermarket. Most of the heater parts seem to be here, but they’re not installed. I have 4 ignition keys, but no door keys. There is no trunk lock, but the latch works fine. There is one good-sized dent in the driver’s door. The car was last registered in California in 2005, and it wasn’t non-op’ed so there is over $500 worth of back registration to be paid before this car can run in CA again. The back fees shouldn’t apply in any other states. One nice thing; this car is smog exempt in California! Contact me with any other questions, preferably before the last day of the auction. On Jul-05-13 at 21:59:16 PDT, seller added the following information: I didn't realize that you couldn't see the cracks in the windshield in my photos... while they're on the passenger side, they're still bad enough that this car will need a new windshield at some point.
