Vehicle Detail
93 Plymouth Voyager, 4 cylinder, 5 speed 103, 639 original miles Please read this carefully. This is a 1993 Plymouth Voyager with a 5 speed manual transmission. It runs strong but is ugly with rust on the door skins and rocker panels. The engine, transmission and clutch are still excellent and the suspension is good; it would probably drive to California without incident as its a strong runner in perfect tune and even has clean oil. The under carriage is fine, that is to say the frame and floor are not rusty so the van is still solid. The mileage, 103 K is original. I bought it in 1999 with 37 K on it from the dealer that sold it new and it had had all of the services/oil changes done. It has had the oil changed about every 3,000 miles and does not burn oil. This is the same engine used in the mail delivery jeeps and they can run for hundreds of thousands of miles. The long and short of this is that it would make a good cheap work van or could be used for commuting. It has a trailer hitch that I put on for my boat ($200 without wiring or installation and it has the wiring) but it was hardly ever used. The interior is still clean as my daughter kept it that way. It seats 5 people only but has a large carrying space behind the rear seats. I put heavy duty gas struts and shocks in it and it still rides well, better than when I bought it as the suspension is better than the original. There are very low miles on the front lifetime disk pads, rotors, new muffler, fuel filter and 02 sensor and the tires still have decent tread left. The Negatives are; there is significant rust on the door skins and rocker panels. It is worse on the drivers side. I was going to remove the running boards and pop rivet new sheet metal on it to make it look presentable. You can do this in an afternoon for under $25 and with a couple of cans of DupliColor paint it would look okay. My daughter drove this van through college and when she had the front fender dented from rolling over on an icy road in Massachusetts she just painted a design on it. The van was checked out by a mechanic and he said that it was fine except for cosmetic damage. The air bag never deployed and it has never been in a serious “real” accident. The AC does not work due to a leak although the compressor and clutch are still good. The heat works but only on the high fan setting. The rear window wiper does not work but the rear defroster does. The rear wiper motor still works so its the linkage. This is kind of a cross between a family van and a work van; it has windows but is pretty basic. The van starts right up and runs smoothly and its in good tune (newer plugs, filters, etc..). Please remember that this is a 5 speed manual transmission. I had the clutch replaced so the drive train is still excellent. I like it because it has better acceleration and gets better gas mileage than the automatic models. The battery is pretty old so you can expect that it will need a new one next winter. This van has been reliable. I made the dealer put the new clutch in and it has not needed any expensive repairs, just the usual tires, brakes, fluid changes. I still have a Toyota van that I bought new and the kids are through college so its not needed any more so its time to go; an ugly but good runner. Local pickup only; it starts right up and can be driven. I just washed it off and took it for a drive yesterday. Payment by Paypal is okay. Local pickup only in the Columbus, Ohio area. It is fine on a highway, decent balance/steering/suspension etc..
