Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars and parts: Found another one in my barn. This is a no reserve auction and will be sold regardless of price, on or off auction. This particular auction is for an authentic original early 1972 Triumph TR6 roadster as shown. Some photos show it as it was recently removed from the barn covered with 25 years of dirt. We just cleaned it up and put on a front bumper. It is an unrestored original survivor. Matching numbers - original engine. Original factory Saffron yellow color with new tan interior. It had one repaint in the correct Saffron color many years ago. Comes with the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate certifying it as a matching numbers original car. The serial number is CC/78625-U. Built 21 December, 1971, sent to British Leyland Motors in Jacksonville Florida on 10 February, 1972. Original equipment includes 4 speed non overdrive transmission, disc wheels, laminated windscreen, black tonneau cover and 185-15 Goodyear red band tyres. (tonneau is missing - spare is one of the original Goodyear tyres). The odometer reads about 90,000 miles. I have no reason to believe it is incorrect but cannot guarantee it's accuracy. It had the same mileage when I purchased it in 1991. There are 57 photos. Following is a detailed description. Hagertys classic car values list the value for the 1972 Triumph TR6 at $8000 low and $31000 high. ENGINE: This car was driven for about 100 miles to my home in 1991 and put into storage - The engine was prepped for long term storage and is in running condition. It is free and was recently started and run temporarily on starting fluid. I have a receipt from Dover cylinder head in Chattanooga Tennessee showing that the head was rebuilt for $214 on 3-2-91, so there are very few miles on the rebuilt head. TRANSMISSION: Transmission and clutch worked perfectly at the time it was driven home and I would assume that has not changed from being in storage. Past owner had installed a new clutch and modern plastic transmission tunnel just before I purchased the car. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: No rust - battery box is solid, just minor surface rust. Complete and all original. Very slight dent on the lower front of right front inner fender from a shunt years ago. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Original paint. No rust, no accidents. Very good overall condition. Has original spare wheel and redline Goodyear tire. Cardboard trunk liner panels all need replacing. There is an original wheel lug wrench and jack handle in the trunk, not shown. EXTERIOR SHEET METAL BODY PANELS: All fenders, doors, rocker panels are straight - No rust, no accidents, no dents or dings. Very nice straight lines and even gaps. (The right front fender has some minor filler in the very front from the small shunt. Door bottoms are perfect - no rust. Inner and outer rocker panels are very good with only minor surface rust on the inners. Very solid. The hood is a replacement from a maroon TR6 and is good and serviceable. No rust but it has some body filler in the front from where it was probably damaged from a small accident at one time. The original trunk lid has a few small rust holes on the left rear corner as shown - easily repaired. EXTERIOR BODY PARTS: Chrome is all decent, top frame is good, front and rear lights are all good. Convertible top is useable but old and has a couple of small slits that would need tended to if you were to keep the top. The windshield is cracked. Rear bumper is a nice, straight and undamaged original - chrome is decent. Front bumper is a nice one from a later rubber bumper TR6 and is held on by only 2 bolts because the original bumper support irons are not there and you can see in the photos that the very front of the frame horns that the bumper irons bolt to are bent up from the shunt - easily repaired. CHASSIS: Frame and complete chassis under the car is excellent with no rust - only minor surface rust in some areas. Straight, everything is original and complete. All suspension, brakes and everything under the car are original and complete - no hidden damage. I do have the front sway bar for the car but it is not shown. Looks like at one time there was black oil or black paint on part of the chassis - that has been there since I have owned the car - nothing has been covered up or painted, etc to hide anything - nothing needs to be hidden on this car. INTERIOR: Pretty much needs everything but is is all original with a few exceptions. The floors are solid originals with the exception of some very small holes mostly on the drivers side and they look more like someone has purposely perforated them at some point to drain water. (sort of common on these cars). Some minor scale spots here and there as shown. All gauges are original. The dash - this has got to be one of the ugliest things I have seen. The original wood dash is still there but has been recovered with a waffle pattern pleated black vinyl. The original wood glove box door was removed and the vinyl covers the space where the door was. The original glove box container (box) itself is still there including the courtesy light and assembly - bizarre. (you need a new dash). All soft dash pieces will need replacing. As you can see the original high back seats are there and are fully functional but need restoration. I cut all of the old carpeting out so you could see the condition of the steel in the floors. Original nice shoulder harness seat belts are intact and the wiring for the seats has not been cut - still all there. TIRES: Two tires still have 25 year old air in them. Two others hold air for about an hour before going down. All are in a semi petrified state and need replacing anyway. EXHAUST: The exhaust looks pretty decent - a few dents in one area of the pipes but the system looks quite solid and useable. PAPERWORK: I have the original Georgia title from the person I purchased the car from and it will be given to the new owner, along with a bill of sale. The British Heritage Industry Heritage Trust Certificate goes with the car. MISCELLANEOUS: Most of the original items are still intact on the car - sun visors are there. Lucas washer bottle and motor are there. Color code for the car is 54 - trim is 33. The cardboard radiator shroud is missing. There is no battery and no horns. Car rolls very easily so no problems with shuttling around. Side windows are very good - drivers side rolls up and down easily - passenger window is extremely hard to roll up and down and needs lubrication. INSPECTION OF CAR: As always, it is difficult to describe something as complicated as a vehicle and it is highly recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the car. It is described to the best of my ability along with many good photos but it is the bidders ultimate responsibility to ensure that what he thinks he is getting is indeed one in the same and something he will be happy with. I have purchased and sold roughly 25 autos through ebay over the past 15 years and also many more over the telephone and have always had excellent results and complete satisfaction from the buyers but I do my homework and suggest you do the same. I describe things as honestly as humanly possible. SHIPPING: I have shipped many cars to all parts of the world for many years and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport. I can assist with loading. The car is in a secure covered place at my home. PAYMENT: A $1000 deposit via Paypal is required immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via priority mail with a bank cashiers check, cash or wire transfer. Payment is to be made IN ADVANCE of collecting the car. AGAIN, IN ADVANCE, BEFORE YOU COLLECT THE CAR - period. No Paypal. REVIEW: This is a very solid early TR6 that is worthy of getting it up and driving and using it as is - it is also worth the time, effort and money to get it in a top restored condition because of the good solid foundation, desirable year model and color combination. (Color? what's color? Something you don't see nowadays - get a new car now and it is either gray, silver, white or black or all shades of gray - funeral colors - with funeral interiors)....... On Jun-01-13 at 15:41:31 PDT, seller added the following information: Correction : I forgot that the left front fender has a very slight vertical crease in it at the rear near the door - the kind that occurs when the door opens too far into the fender. On Jun-04-13 at 12:12:30 PDT, seller added the following information: My Son wanted to see how it would look if it was waxed - so he waxed the passenger door - came out pretty nice........then he quit - too much work.......
