Hello! This auction is for my vintage 1971 Honda CB450 Motorcycle. Date of manufacture is 10/70. I bought this bike last fall, not running. The previous owner said it hasn't ran since the early 1990's. I brought it home, and after some work, it runs good now. Here is the work I did to this bike: Took off both carbs and took them apart and cleaned them really good with carb. spray, blew out the air filters, emptied the old gas (there wasn't hardly any gas in it), Cleaned out the gas tank with acetone and flushed it with new gas- the inside of the gas tank looks good now and doesn't have any rust inside and wasn't rusted when I bought the bike, lubed the throttle and clutch cable's with my cable luber, cleaned the ignition point's, installed 2 new NGK spark plugs, drained the engine oil overnight and put in Honda GN4 oil, installed a new battery, the front brake fluid was empty, so I filled it up and bled the front brake system till clear fluid came out. After all this, The bike started right up! The engine seems to run really good. The valves may need adjusted, I didn't adjust them. I have put about 20 miles on the bike. The transmission shifts very smooth. And the clutch feels great too. The tires are the original Dunlop Gold Seal Safety tires that came on the bike- I think. That's why I only rode it 20 miles! The tires will for SURE need replaced if the bike is going to be ridden. They are NOT SAFE! They are 40 plus years old and are dry rotted. I rode the bike around very slow. The only things missing that I know of are the mirrors (the previous owner could not find them), the plastic knob for the headlight on/off switch and the only tools in the tool box were the pliers and a screwdriver. The rest of the tools in the tool kit is missing. A couple of problems with this bike: The electric start worked at first. Then, it quit. I think the starter clutch went bad. It starts right up with the kick starter. The front brake is sticking. I hit the brake caliper with a rubber mallet, and it freed up some. But when I apply the front brake and release it drags. I think the front brake caliper piston is stuck in the bore and needs taken apart and cleaned. The rotor and pads look good. Condition: I washed this old Honda and it looks much better now. It is 42 years old and does have normal wear. There are some small dents on the gas tank( See photo) The chrome is shiny but does have light pitting. Small dent on top of front fender (See photo) The seat looks really good for how old it is! It has a small crack on top (See photo) The photos I took of the bike may help to give you an idea of the condition. The exhaust pipes look great for the bikes age. A piece of the engine cooling fin is broke off near the top of the engine on the left side. (See photo) The odometer shows 3,058 miles. I believe this to be true because the bike has its original tires still on. And there is some tread left. The speedometer worked right away when I first rode it last fall. There is plenty of drive chain adjustment left, and the sprockets look great. Everything but the starter works. All of the lights, horn, tach. and speedo. Any questions??? PLEASE ASK!!!
